There seems to be a lot of the European DVD maps but I cannot find the latest 2G MMI 9 (without hard drive) maps for a 2009 S5 for the USA.

What you mean is a MMI 3G without HDD
The DVD is published here and for 2 reasons it 's useless

    You have a US unit
You can't install it without the proper codes and a hook up to the dealers computer system

    Newbie here: first post.

Does that apply as well to a 2008 A4 DVD-based system?
I'm trying to find out how to obtain/burn a workable copy of 2011 DVD data for the US, 2008 Audi a4.

Anything described here is to obtain a near perfect copy
I see no reason why you should consider laying back with a US unit

Using copied DVD's and CD's is detrimental to the laser anyway and the better quality your copy is the less wear you'll notice or incur on the laser

    Hi Gazo,

some months ago we were discussing about MMI 3G DVD update and if an activation code is required or not:
NEW DVD__AUDI__MMI__3G not COMPATIBLE WITH NAVIGATOR HDD AUDI_3G
Today, reading your quoted post, I understand that you got more precise infomation about this. Please, can you update me about it? Thank you.

    Apology!
This for the HDD version only

There is no solution yet for the DVD version
