    Re: Becker Cascade Maps V5?

I bought a new SanDisk 2 Gb Ultra II card specially for V5 maps. I didn't want to risk with my V4 maps. By the way is it possible to downgrade Cascade back to V4? There are some problems with my Cascade and I was asked to send my unit to warranty repair. But I hope the problems have gone after the newer software is installed.
I'm not 100% sure, software seems to run smoother, maps loading slower. It might be for the reason the coverage increased from 62% to 100%

Sandisk has dicontinued the production of 2 Gb Ultra II CF-Cards
Although some suppliers may still have them, they are very hard to obtain.
The only alternative seems to be to use 4 Gb CF Cards

    Re: Becker Cascade Maps V5?

    hi,
I have tried to use v5 on an ebay cf card for v4.

It doesn't work, so do I need a special V5 card?

I have still not managed to write that string on a new card. Can someone give precise instruction for WinHex.

And should I write "HARMANBECKER BECKER V5"?? instead of V4??

Can someone say if the Becker is slower with V5? I think it is when I installed the CD. As I said, the card didn't work.

Do I need to prepare the card if I use the image from the first post and the USB Image Utility or do I just copy the image on the card?

    Thanks!
    Freili

    Hi Freili,

every Sandisc CF Card works, also the shorter 2gb Cards.

I make a mistake in my post to use winhex.

You right, you must write ... V5 and than, you can copy the image on your cf card - it works - you must have a free space from nearly 1,978000 GB.

Be shure, that you have the correct drive selected (if not, you can´t see the unpartitioned areas in winhex)

For me v5 works even faster and without failures.

I regret to inform you that the "new series" of 2Gb Sandisk Ultra Cards have a capacity of only 2,010,808,320 bytes
Consequently the image cannot be written to this card. An error is genrated while trying to copy using USB imagetool

    Re: Becker Cascade Maps V5?

I have got several problems with the whole procedure. That I can not really trace back to a presise mistake/fault of mine or the card.

I have cloned a card with MediaDuplicator and it seemd to work (with V4). I have put the V5 Software on it and there was a software error.
THen I put the V4 on it again and selected a location far away that I had never visited before. The card failed. Maybe it never worked and I only didn't get mistakes because I always had locations that the cache could direct me to??

So what card do I need, what exactly must I do. How do I format it, with what tool?, What do I write on it, ect.

I was really happy because it seemd to work until just now.

Could it be that I am using new Ultra CF cards with less space? How can I tell this?

Sorry for all the questions and no positive input. I'm really at a loss here.

    @ Gazo

First i see a free space under Win7 "totalcommander" of 1.938.. gb - the image has 1.978.. gb.

I start to copy under windows the image with this commander (it works) and i have a free space of 7... mb. - not much, but it works perfectly.

But i have not testet yet, if it also runs with speedtraps - this i can tell you at the 5. of october.

    Greetings

    Sonja

I will make an image for the smaller 2GB SanDisk cards when I have time.

I can still buy SanDisk 2GB cards no problem, but I did hear that they may be discontinued. All 4GB and 8GB cards are now 30MB/s rather than older 15MB/s transfer rates.

It seems to be, that the 7mb free space are not enough for speedtraps.

My problem is, that i can t test this first with my winter-car in october.

The loading and install of the speedtraps-cd are 5 times shorter as one of the bigger cf cards.

    Has it anyone testet yet?
