You must only use V3 versions
The problem is that with the V2 versions, also the major roads are installed

If it is necessary to use any V2 version it must be installed first. The major roads will be overwritten by the V3 national road coverage

Shouldn't you install Major Roads to get coverage in areas where we do not have separate country cd's of (for example Scandinavia V3)?

You could but problems may be expected
Just one country + Major Roads posed no problem but when adding countries problems start

I seem to have a slight issue with the SD card. I installed an 8Gb card and copied almost all the maps on it (in total its about 4,3Gb of CD's). For some reason, I can't install the last CD. It gives me the error that the SD card is full.

I bought the Sandisk card and just inserted it into the car. My question is, does the car format this card first? Or should I've formatted it first in my computer before installing it the car?

Because the cards come no way near 8Gb, not even 5Gb.

To my knowledge, the car does not format the card. A newly bought SD card will be formatted already though. You are most likely facing the same feature/bug reported several times in this threat. Just read the last 2 pages, and especially the posts by Gazo. (=> don't install "Major Roads" if you intend to install all country maps)

first of all, thank you for the clear manual and time invested in making everything as available as it is.

I have a few questions. Yesterday I tried to install France on a brand new sd card. Everything seemed to work fine and after an hlaf hour of so it was done copying. Then I tried to navigate to some small town:

    1. Search for small town
    2. select city centre
    3. go!

Now It tries to calculate the route but after a few seconds it says it cannot calculate a route. At that time I was in the Netherlands so I thougt it missed a few maps. (NL/BE). Is my assumption correct?

I tried to copy the maps of France to an existing card with BeNeLux V2 and main roads already on them. Everything went fine, but uppon selecting a small city in France I got the same result. ("calculating route" ....> "cannot calculate route"). Is this because of a mismatch between v2 + mainroads and v3 France?

Can I just delete the v3 France map from the existing card with a cardreader? Because I kinda fucked it up and I want to bring it back to its old state. And when I bought the car, the cd wasnt handed to me. The maps were already on the SD card

    cheers

The V3 editions of these maps only offer national coverage and no major roads
For cross border journeys you will need the Major Roads CD or the CD of an adjacent country
Basically you cannot mix V2 and V3 maps unless you like problems.
By copying the Map of rance you effectively delte the major road coverage that existed with the V2

You cannot just delete maps with a card reader, yiou will have tomstart all over by first formatting the SD card

    Cheers man, much appreciated.

So, I fucked up my original card...(ah well, my dads, mine is still intact ) And I'm not going to fix that one, unless I reinstall all the V2 stuff on it.

And Just installing the map of a far away country will also result in the system not being able to calculate the directions. Is that right?

Ima try and install all the v3 versions tonight, it should work I am sure.

No mixture of V2 and V3 under any circumstances
If you have to use any V2 map leave it in the cd unit and navigate from there
