Whereis Pty Ltd provides the raw mapping data for the manufacturers such as Holden, Audi, Mercedes, TomTom, NavMan, however, once the manufacturers have the data, they then convert it to the format that suit their machines.

So i would be careful jumping into buying one unless you are sure it will work.

how could I prove the compatibility.... I used a bmw v16 HIGH (red disc) in my Vdo Dayton pc5000 with no problems, there are only bmw dealers in the car service and bike service poi sections.

if that's not enough head straight to the bmw dealership and shell out $500 for a roughly same disc.

V19 works just fine in a MKIV as recommended by hell.

So to confirm, owning a 2006 E53 X5 with a Mark IV Nav (DVD/CD) in the boot.
I can download the file mentioned in this link: Whereis� | Buy Sat Nav Map Updates | VDO Dayton - Sensis
Pop the CD in the my Mark IV Nav unit (as per the video instructions on the whereis link)
It updates the map and Done.

No key, No activation... just a simple replacement of the map files, without need to upgrade firmware of the computer or any such work?

Well you don't download it. They send you a disc. "CARIN Aust MS5000 V19" is the same format as used in "BMW High" and works in a MK IV. The mapping data appears to come from a slightly different source though. It mentions Tomtom in the data.

The disc isn't loaded into the device. It just reads the disc as needed. So it needs the disc all the time.

There is no key, no activation etc. It will just work. I don't think there is any restriction that might force you to upgrade the nav firmware but if you have to that's not a big deal.
