Hi I have two Omnitechs 1st is the 15223 2nd is the 16878. can you walk me threw the steps on how to do this. I’ve been trying to trick out my units for the past month. I tried GenIV & Delphy and its plain to see I need to start out simple but effective. Let me tell you what I have as of yet I downloaded
1. Destination 9.rar
2. Destinator 9 800x480 GPS wince 5 link:
3. Destinator Maps North America - 2009.Q3
4. I have a 2 & 4 GB cards
Now do I start with an empty card or just the NK.bin or Destinator Apps or both?
What next. Please add every step so I don’t screw up.
Are these the latest maps for USA & Canada? Or where should I go to get them? (link please)
Will English UK_Female_Std. work for USA Canada? ( I know it sounds stupid but will it)?
In the post it said To configure the Port, and Baud Rate, change the file GPSTMC.ini that is in the User Data folder. I have no idea what to change it to.
Could someone please spare some time to help me get started. Thanks in advance.

The port and baud rate determine how the GPS accesses the satellite. Get these wrong and you won't find a satellite. I just got this working on my Omnitech 16878 with the GenIV menu. You will need to change the GPSTMC.ini file inside the Destinator Apps/Destinator/UserData folder as given in this forum for your Omnitech. The one as given has port=2, and you need to change this to port=1.In the post it said To configure the Port, and Baud Rate, change the file GPSTMC.ini that is in the User Data folder. I have no idea what to change it to.
Start with a blank flash disk and copy your original Omnitech disk contents onto it. This will give you the necessary NK.bin in the root and a DestinatorApps folder.
You MUST have the NK.bin file in the root and a DestinatorApps folder for your Omnitech to work.
Next extract the Destinator9 files into DestinatorApps. This creates a Destinator folder inside the DestinatorApps folder and puts Destinator9 files in it.
Now add your maps into the Destinator Apps/Destinator folder. The maps will be folders like USARoads, South (AR LA MS OK TX), etc.
Now go and edit your GPSTMC.ini file inside the Destinator Apps/Destinator/UserData folder and change the Port=2 to Port=1.
You should be good to go, Destinator 9 should work if I haven't left anything out.
If you want to run the GenIV menu system, now you simply extract it into the root of the flash drive and allow it to erase and replace any files it needs to. What it does (along with some other things) is it replaces the "real" Destinator.exe file with it's own file named Destinator.exe (since NK.bin is hardcoded to run Destinator.exe). So to hack this, it simply substitutes it's own file and names it Destinator.exe. Now the "real" Destinator.exe is renamed Destin@tor.exe, and the when you choose to use the Destinator software, the "fake" (i.e. GenIV) Destinator.exe file runs Destin@tor.exe instead.
Hope this helps.
Ok, why do people like Destinator? I only use it because I haven't got anything else working on my Omnitech GPS yet, but I have to say I'm not impressed. The original version that came with my Omnitech 16878 was v8.0.20.21.1 and I it was ok, except it did not display your speed (MPH). That was a deal breaker for me because I use it on a boat, and my truck's speedo is broken. So I tried v8.0.21.275, and it had improved some things, but again had no speed display, and plus now in 2D mode, it'll only point north! I prefer the icon to point and travel in the direction you're really going, and to have N always point up (i.e. of you're heading East I like to see the icon move to the right, not always straight up). Yeah I'm strange that way but I grew up navigating with a map.
So now we have Destinator v9.1.21.7, and it seems to suck even more? What are the improvements over Version 8? Looks like we lost the volume control (it's either on or off) and now we just have a bunch of icons that are pretty meaningless, and still no way to control the 2D directions (that v8.0.20.21.1 had!) and still no MPH. Seems Destinator loses features with every version!
I'm going to be trying iGo or TomTom or Garmin as soon as I can get them working. Any comments or suggestions? What do you guys like about Destinator that I'm not seeing?
