Re: 2 din recomendation (From china)

mmm, I have to agree with the China stuff being junk, I had a china double din installed it and the thing crapped out on me within two weeks, DVD drive stopped working, sent it back and had a replacement, same thing again lasted about a month and the thing crapped out again, sent it back and managed to get a refund through Paypal, next one I bought was a Pioneer Avic F700BT, got it as a refurb from E-Bay, paid $380 best thing I have ever bought, had it in the car for nearly a year now without one hiccup, and very hackable, you can get the Avics for $300 via e-bay, go with the Pioneer you wont regret it.

I bought a Chinese "piece of junk" nearly a year ago and I still can't stop appreciating how wonderful it is. Everything has worked flawlessly including GPS.
BRILLIANT SCREEN, DVB-T, GPS, MEDIA CARD READER, IPOD, DVD, RADIO, PERFECT BLUETOOTH HANDSFREE SYSTEM, ( absolutely no unpleasantness during call, like delays or echos etc.) and all this for £233.00! Just love my piece of junk!

I bought the Xtrons off ebay for a couple of hundred quid; got to say it was the best buy ever! The Sat nav uses Igo8 and is first class, the DVD/CD Mp3 even photo's works spot on. I had the extra £25 reverse camera and comes on as it should from the reverse selection (even when the unit is off) Even the TV works OK but of course analogue will be off soon so I will have to get the Digital converter (chinese of course). Only wish the bluetooth would pick up my phonebook on screen but the on screen phone is excellent. I would recommend one of these units to anyone.
I would like to try loading TomTom on it though, anyone know how to do it?

The two din that I got from China has DVB-T built into it. Unbelievable good! Crystal clear.
Tried installing TomTom, no success. ( was just footering around ) Not bothered because, as you said, IGO is perfect. Speed limit warnings are really accurate with Navteq maps.

You are completely mistaken in thinking that major brands only put their name tags to these units
Most of them come from minor production facilities that produce small batches of this junk never to care about them afterwards.
I do recognize the fact that major brands do encounter other expenditure in the way of RD and marketing but mostly the cost of official editions of the operating and navigating software that is 99.9% illegal with this Chinese junk
that is not completey true, now that you have gotten off your soapbox after unfairly bucketing chinese manufactured dvd/gps units i too have used and tested quite a few of these units and only come across two or three substandard units. Most chinese manufacturers support their products and are quite helpful with product support.
yes there is an element of risk buying a product from overseas especially if there are warranty problems but for most people the price difference makes it worth it.
A little research, and using a website like aliexpress in hong kong to purchase through(not ebay most of these guys are dropshippers) will net you a good d/din unit from china

    Hi Guys
I just got one of those Chineese wonders 2 weeks ago and so far I love it.I don't care what some people say about chineese stuff .I can't afford to buy a chineese made Pioneer for $1200 so China is a great option for me.I noticed that people that critisize chineese electronics the most are those who never bought one.At the same time they spend their money at walmart pritending that they are not aware that they buy all chineese stuff.

Guys I need your help please!!!Can anyone send me a link .I need to download Route66 maps of USA or Igo maps of USA for my chineese tresure.Any help will be greatly appriciated.

Please excuse my bad English but I am Polish.
    My e-mail:adas1968@yahoo.com Thanks.

Re: 2 din recomendation (From china)

I have a "Chinese junk" too.
Have used it for two years.
Not too bad, but the Route 66 map on it is very old, and it often makes me take a very bad itinerary ...
Anyone knows if it is possible to use another map on those "junks", or where to download an updated Route 66 map from ???

    Thanks.

Re: 2 din recomendation (From china)

I bought a "Chinese piece of junk" from ebay about 4 months ago. Has all the usual toys, GPS, bluetooth, DVD, rear camera, USB etc. It cost a quarter of the named brands and works fine. The GPS has never lost signal and the picture quality is very good.

The only drawback that i have with it is the GPS software that was loaded on it, Route66, it is up to date but i just dont like the display Route66 uses. I have tried running TomTom but the maps froze after a minute. Im sure there is a way to get it running. So if anyone knows how to get it running with an Australian map let me know.
