  • Re: Garmin jnx file format hacking

Oregon 450, Firmware 6.0 .... work OK with the last patcher version.

The only problem (firmware problem) is the tempe sensor, ... display the temperature OK but is not registered in the track (current.gpx).

This problem (already in the 5.90) was theoretically resolved in this version ... but still fails

HI, Its been a while and i havent been active for a few months.

But have just got back into playing with JNX files.

It looks like JNX files are not only limited by tiles but files size too. I have managed to create a 8GB file but my garmin will not accept it.

Its all down the the files system FAT32. It only allows 4gb files.

Please can the MOBAT2JNX tool be updated to allow for this.

Whiter it might also be worth noting this in you discription of the format.

Next to the FAT32 file system, the JNX format itself limits it's size to 4GB as the offset into the file for the single tiles is 32bit only. But as you can have several files with the same product ID you can easily bypass this limitation.

I thought there was somthing else going on. Looks like i will have to split the file by amount of tiles. Not total file size. If i half the tike count the fike size shouls approximatly half

The last byte of firmware, is any checksum?

Yes. The sum of all bytes in fw_all.bin should be equal to zero. It's adjusted with help of the last byte.

                            Hi,

I make .jnx files with MOBAC and MOBAC2JNX.
But when .jnx is up to 2 Gb, JNX Customizer can't load the heavy .jnx so that I can't achieve zoom levels.
Is there a way to modify JNX Customizer ? What can I sort out this problem ?

The last firmware for Dakota 20, 5.50, is OK for patcher. It can read JNX done with Mapc2mapc

Hello, I am the author of Jnx Customizer. Please, send me a link or similar (private message) to download a problematic heavy jnx file and try to fix the problem.

                                Thanks!
