  • How tu UpDate Maps in the New 2012 Nuvi Series (34XX, 24XX, 25XX)

The new 2012 models are MTP Devices. That is why when you conect them to your PC they are listed in Other devices in My Computer. And it doen´t show the System Folder and are not recognice by Mapsource. What we have to do is, in the GPS go to Volumen, then hold the upper right corner a few seconds and it will show a hidden menu. Go to MTP Setting and choose Mass Storage or Mass Storge Single Session. Conecte the GPS to computer and now it shows up in My Computer as a removable disk and everything is accesible as usual. Including useing it in Mapsource.

From here you can folow the usual steps

when u connect your gps to the laptop / pc, then when u go into the Garmin (example lets letter H)

then this is what you type "H:/.system" and press enter.

i have nuvi 3450. I try to backup gmapprom.img in the .system folder and copying to desktop. But every time i copy & paste to desktop, the gps disconnect itself. It won't allow me to copy. Please help in backing up. Thx

Solved: I had to rename gmapprom.img to gmapprom1.img then i can copy&paste to desktop.
