  • latest NC prepared for small and large devices

    Maybe someone wants to try one of these new NCs on small devices (32MB RAM):

    NC 9.058 (Go x40, Go x50, XL live; Birthday= 26 August 2010)
    NC 9.061 (Go 550, 750, 950 + LIVE; Birthday = 07 July 2011)
    NC 9.151 (XL IQ2, XXL 550; Birthday= 24 November 2010)
    NC 9.160 (Start XL; Birthday= 25 August 2010)
    NC 9.170 (XXL TTS; Birthday = 24 August 2011) <----- latest NC v9

    to use the features of the latest NavCore release .

    I have an One 2nd edition.
    I can use use these original NCs, but
    - available RAM shrinks to ~0MB.
    - the GUI looks oldfashioned and not like a Start or OneIQ.

    After patching them with DSA I can use modes x30/x40/x50 with sufficient RAM, but NOT
    - the new simplified menu of a Start
    - TTuser's well known x40light emu
    - the new extended simplified menu of a XLIQ2
    - creating screenshots by clicking on the upper left corner
    - Text To Speech feature (TTS)
    - tbc.

    Now I can ;-)

    What I did:
    - changed ttsystem in a way that it interprets the new content of the file "reskin" in the root of the sdcard.
    - removed the unneeded DSA-stuff
    - removed folders "ASR", "LoquendoTTS" (copy from orig or this forum if you need them)

    These are the copies of my sdcard:

    9.058: download
    9.061: download
    9.151: download
    9.160: download
    9.170: download

    Thanks to DSA it is possible to run these NCs on devices with 32MB RAM (~8 MB available)

    Feedback would be appreciated..

    additional infos:
    TTS is enabled in this configuration, but the files are not included in my backup.
    (neither VocalizerTTS nor LoquendoTTS)

    If you want to change the mode you have to modify the file "reskin" with a Linux compatible editor (like Notepad++ or UltraEdit for example). Dont use Notepad or Wordpad (CR/LF -> LF problem). You can also just copy one of the attached configuration files to the root of your sdcard if you dont have such an editor.

    These modes are available:

    "x20" = Go x20 (not working)
    "x30" = Go x30
    "x40" = Go x40
    "x50" = Go x50
    "oneiq" = One IQ == x40light
    "xliq" = XL IQ == x40light2
    "xlliveiq" = XL LIVE IQ == x40light3
    "start" = Start (one config-page)
    "rider" = Urban Rider (not working)
    "start2" = Start²/XLIQ² (three config-pages) (only 9.151)

    Configuration files are attached to this posting:
    configuration.zip

    It is expected to work on (nearly) all devices.

    Owner of a START, START², XL², EASE, START 10 or ?? device have to use 9.151 with configuration "start2".
    OR
    Owner of a START, START², EASE, START 10 or ?? (NOT XL²) device could install this instead,
    if you want another GUI (x40 or x50) on these devices:
    Optimized DarkMireille's "NC9 ME v2.0.0-pre3" based on NC 9.205.
    (Desciption "readme.txt" is included)
    OR
    Owner of a START, START², XL², EASE, START 10 or ?? device install 9.151 with configuration "start2" and extract this file onto their sdcard,
    if you want another GUI (similar to x50) on these devices:
    SdkRegistry.rar

    Otherwise there will be no sound.

    LoquendoTTS v7 (including German + EnglishUK voice) ( list of links to other voices: Loquendo.txt )
    download
    Do NOT install it on devices with 32MB RAM. Use VocalizerTTS instead. Remove folder LoquendoTTS.

    On some devices you will need DMs patch to get LoquendoTTS working:
    DMpatch.zip

    Remove folder "ASR", if your device doesn't have a microphone.

    If your device does not work like expected, try this:
    remove settings.dat, remove mapsettings.cfg, run ClearFlash utility
    Clear Flash tool

    The screenshot feature (shutter noise when touching upper left corner of navigation screen) can be disabled by removing or renaming the folder "screen".

    Pls. don't ask questions through PM. Do use this forum!

      Re: latest NC prepared for small and large devices

      9.061 works as a charm.+2Mb free RAM in comp to 8.562 I used before, screen less sensitive than other clones, vocaliser works Ok as well, more to follow if I notice
      Edit: Speedcams warning sound significantly stronger with the same volume settings.

        Re: latest NC prepared for small and large devices

        Hi guys

        I too have an older device, a 2007 One V3 1 GB, 32 MB RAM, 5.5128 boot. I've tried about 6 or 7 different NCs in the last 2 months, with results ranging from not even booting, to working, but with a boring and featureless GUI (the old original GUI of TT Ones).

        The only version I've been happy with is the 8562. Among those tried were 8545, 9101_one, 9053_one and 9051_one. The only 9xxx that worked was 9101_one, except with one big flaw with the TTS vocalizer: it read tildes (the accentuation mark used in Spanish) as "derechos de autor" (which kinda means "copyright"). This vocalizer issue is known, and in the thread that talks about it, no-one seems to know if there is a solution that exists for it.

        One real good thing about 9101_one over 8562 is that it had the Live Services menu button un-blocked, so I could fully configure radar warnings (in 8562 the button is there but locked, in a grayish tone and unusable).

        Hope to hear suggestions from you guys.

        UPDATE: I tried 9061 and it does work nicely, but I had to delete the Raster folder in order for the files to fit on my device (I have the biggest possible map in there, which I even had to tweak to make it fit in my 1 GB device). Also, TTSvocalizer didn't work right: it has the same error as the 9101_one when vocalizing specific characters used in Spanish. I am now trying 9024, which was posted on the Vocalizer voices thread. It's GUI is sloppy unles you use an emulator it has for the pre-IQ routes GUI, which in itself is bad because you can't configure or enjoy things like the ALG.

          Are you sure you have had radars patched correctly with 8562?

            I have them legal: there was an offer of 9 € for a one year subscription so I grabbed it.

            UPDATE: The reason for the missing services menu is the missing "bton" line in setconfig.txt . Changing it there made it show up in 8562.

              @ bmwdriver+

              Hi,

              I tried NC 9.061 (copy of your sdcard) in my GO730 and it seems working in X40 and X50 modes (to my needs)
              The biggest draw back I have is that my plugin's are now dead.
              Does this have anything to do with your "changed ttsystem".

              Regards,

                I didn't even check for setconfig file contents ... mine worked straight away ... Glad you worked this out

                  Nope. Most plugins stop working properly with NC9.

                    Not really, I have been using NC 9.103 from Drhouse, and everything was working as expected, including plugins (namely TTTracklog & Whereami)
                    I wanted to test your NC 9.061 as the approach was different, but like I mentioned earlier, I had no luck with the plugins.
                    By the way there is no problem while using the Patched 9061 PNDNavigator available in this forum except that my tomtom "stays" in x30 mode only.

                      TTTracklog works perfectly on my Go730+BestNC.

                      Starting with NC9 it is impossible/different to popup messages on the screen.
                      This is mentioned on the homepage of TTTracklog.
                      AFAIK Event_Logger is the only plugin that does popups on NC9.

                      I dont know whereami, but it should work similar.

                      On my Go 730 TTTracklog starts recording from boot automaticly. If you like I could provide the needed configuration (of TTTracklog).

                        Hello

                        Let me recap,
                        I have TTuser's NC 9.051 on a GO910 and Drhouse NC 9.103 on a GO730. On both these systems TTTracklog works perfectly, you are right with no popup messages on the screen but with a valid recording of the trace.

                        With your NC 9.061 there are no popup messages and NO recording .
                        Now since your patching of NC 9.061 (DSA+) is different for the ones above, I am asking you about your ttsystem especially that if I use the navcore from the CAB file with the Patched 9061 PNDNavigator available in this forum I have files with the trace.

                        Please post/send your configuration to start TTTracklog from boot automatically keeping in mind that I also use Height from Joghurt

                        Thanks and Regards,

                          Why?
                          Compared with my "Best NavCore for Go x30" there is no advantage.
                          I would also not use a 9.061 on my Go 730.

                          With your NC 9.061 there are no popup messages and NO recording
                          Thats defnitely wrong. I just tested it
                          My NC9.061 + TTTracklog 1.14 works fine.
                          Please post/send your configuration to start TTTracklog from boot automatically keeping in mind that I also use Height from Joghurt
                          I'm not interested in Height, but you can just add the needed lines.

                          To help you I would ask you to do this (maybe again):

                          use a clean sdcard
                          + all files from my 9.061
                          + a map
                          + TTTracklog 1.14
                          + the attached files (overwrite existing files)
