Help get rid of "State or Province", please.

    Hi,
I have downloaded Europe NT 2011 10a , the unlocked image version.

It is approx 1.84GB and I used Gmaptool to split it to its individual "img" files
and then just use the countries I want, however whenever I re-join my selected
countries into one gmapsupp.img and reboot my garmin I do not get to choose which
country I want but all I get is a screen looking for a "State or Province" and no matter what I type
I cannot get past this screen?

    What am I doing wrong??
    Thanks in advance.

PS: Looking for an "IMG" file of Ireland/UK, France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, Italy and Luxemberg

Re: [solved] Garmin City Navigator Europe 2011 unlock problem

    Hi
I am new here so sorry for the rookie question

I have used this thread to unlock the Garmin City Navigator Europe 2011 and have unlocked the map on MapSource on my Laptop.

I have then transferred the maps to my Nuvi 250.

However when I start the Nuvi 250 I get the message 'No detailed maps found that support routing'.

I have done a bit of research and it seems the problem is with a missing unlock key that should be put in a file called 'gmapprom.unl'

Where do i get the unlock key, I tried the same unlock key I used to unlock the maps in MapSource but that did not seem to work.

I do not have any original documentation from the unit but I have registered it on the Garmin website if that is any value

    Thanks

Garmin City Navigator Europe 2011 unlock problem on mac

I saw the thread located at
    gpsunderground.com/forum/showthread.php?102-solved-Garmin-City-Navigator-Europe-2011-unlock-problem

and followed the clear instructions. All worked, even using the generated unlock code into Garmin's mac software. While the generated unlock code is listed in all of Garmin's apps for mac, and it is working with no warnings on RoadTrip, it does say the map is still unlocked in MapInstall and BaseCamp. The unlock code is listed in those applications, these applications just keep saying the map is locked, and mapinstall refuses to install it on my 76CSX.

Can anyone help figuring out how to get an unlock code working on Garmin's mac software? Thanks!

    Got this sorted

Loaded the the map using MapSource then changed the key on the .img file using 'Garmin GMAPSUPP.IMG key editor V0.2', after using garmin keygen 1.5 to generate a new key

Newest Map from Garmin still outdated

    Hello,

In my town in Germany there have been major road construction projects in the last couple of years including a new four lane highway. Some of these roads have now been open for nearly two years and are still not included on the latest version of the Europe map (2011.10b). Funnily enough the roads have been shown on local paper maps since 2009. How can this be? What is the point of updating to newest maps if they are still years out of date? Is it possible to inform the map makers of irregularities in the maps?

I'd be grateful for your thoughts

    Hi
Garmin buys their maps information from Navteq. Navteq is a Nokia owned company (not anymore an independent one)
Either you can inform Garmin or Navteq (both have in their websites the way to do it).

To go around this system, TomTom and her company Teleatlas have a more efficient system - You can alter some street ways (One way, both ways, forbiden ways, forbiden turns / U-turns, new roudabouts, etc.
I do not use Tomtom because their maps do not allow true OFF-Road and they do not have true Topo maps, as Garmin does.

There seems to be no logic to the process. We've had many new roads built in Spain - some have taken 3 years to appear, some in less than 6 months. My own road is included in Recreational Europe but not in City Navigator. Sometimes they act on error reports, sometimes they just ignore them. Most of the updates comprise new commercial POIs, presumably because they are being paid by the companies concerned.

    Report Map errors at

Also if you use Google Maps, right click on the map, then report a problem. Tell it the map has changes and needs updated. Please state the problem as they also use Tele Atlas and the corrections seem to go through in about two map updates.
