Re: City Navigator Philippines NT 2012.20

The CN Philippines 2011.40 calculates ETA very conservatively. It starts with a very late arrival time and adjusts as you travel. This makes estimating your arrival very difficult. 2012.20 still does it the same way. Roadguide on the other hand does it the other way. It starts with a very "early" arrival time and adjusts your ETA based on your traveling speed. I find that Roadguide is better in this aspect as I can tell whoever might be waiting for me an approximate ETA. Not sure with the roads as each one seems to have a road or so not in the other.

Re: City Navigator Philippines NT 2012.20

you can install both, but not use both .. use/check in map menu only one of two maps

    The New Garmin Series (1xxx/2xxx/37xx)

In this devices you will find built-in maps in .System folder, this is a hidden system folder and you have to enable the view of this folder in:
Tools\Folder Options\View – Select Show hidden files, folders and drives
Tools\Folder Options\View – Uncheck Hidde protected operating system file (Recommended)

To update this devices you can:
1 - Replace the original map (gmapprom.img) with the one downloaded, you can rename the downloaded map in gmapprom.img if it is named gmapsupp.img
2 – You can create a folder called Map in the root and put the map file inside. The files in Map folder can be renamed as you wish and you can put more than one map in this folder.
Example: “X” is your Garmin driver
    X:\Map\gmapsupp.img
    X:\Map\Europe.img
    X:\Map\NorthAmerica.img
    X:\Map\XXXXX.img

You can do the same in SD card
    SD:\Map\gmapsupp.img
    SD:\Map\Europe.img
    SD:\Map\NorthAmerica.img
    SD:\Map\XXXXX.img
3 – You can use the Garmin folder in SD but you can use only one map, named gmapsupp.img

    Other Garmin Devices

In other garmin devices is not present the .System folder , all the maps will be inside Garmin folder, the same here gmapprom.img map is the original pre-installed map
To update this devices you can:
1 - Replace the original map (gmapprom.img) with the one downloaded, you can rename the downloaded map in gmapprom.img if it is named gmapsupp.img
2 – You can use the downloaded map named gmapsupp.img just copy inside Garmin folder.
3 – If you want to have more maps in your device you can rename maps file in:
gmapprom.img (original map/ or renamed new map)
    gmapsupp.img (2° map)
    gmapprom1.img (3° map)
    gmapoem.img (4° map – can’t be unselected)
devices with 3D buildings support, can rename in
    gmap3d1.img (5° map)
    4 – Using a SD card
Format in Fat32 your SD card and create a Garmin folder. Copy the gmapsupp.img inside the Garmin folder. You can use only one map in SD card.
You can have 2 maps named gmapsupp.img one in device and one in the SD card. It can help if you can’t put a full Europe map and you need a <2GB map. Copy the big one in SD and the rest usually a small file in Device, go in Setting\Map\Info and select both maps this way you will have a full coverage of Europe.

To use the junction view files, drag the entire “JCV” folder into your “Garmin” folder.( x:\Garmin\JCV )
or in Garmin in a subfolder called JCV on the SD Card
or in System hidden directory in a JCV folder
    marthymark and voltaire like this.

Re: City Navigator Philippines NT 2012.20

I just acquired a nuvi 1390LMT from the US last May. It came with a preloaded CN NA NT 2012.20 map. Everything works fine with the map as well as the JCV file that came with it. Two days ago, I installed the CN Philippines 2012.20 mapset. Downloaded it properly at full size. I copied the unlocked image to my Garmin device in the root directory (X:Map/gmapsupp.img) as it was a gmaprom.img originally. However when I posted the corresponding JCV file that came with the map to the JCV directory in the .system folder, an error happens. The said JCV directory in the system folder also contains the 2 JCV files with my pre-existing NA map.

When I boot the device and route the gps e.g. to Baguio City, the GPS displays a junction view possibility in the area of the Kamias and EDSA flyover. As evident, the Junction View tab is lit. However when I press the junction view tab to display the photo on the corresponding Area, the GPS instantly dies. I have to boot the device again for it to work. I tried to place the JCV to the root directory (X:Garmin/JCV/Philippines.JCV) and error still happens. I also tried to place it on an SD card and still no luck.

Any ideas on how to fix this? The CN Philippines NT 2012.20 works fine. It's just that the JCV file that came with it is not working. Is it possible to keep two different JCV files since I have both the US (CN NA NT 2012.20) and Philippine (CN Philippines NT 2012.20) maps in the device? Or do I have to delete my the JCV files that came with originally with my GPS device.

I have read on other forums that the JCV files are map specific. So it would initially would have no problems. However, I experience this error.

Re: City Navigator Philippines NT 2012.20

After thorough research, i found out that the JCV file only works on Philippine FW (nuvi 1360) which are sold locally. Though i may alter my FW so that the JV may work, i may risk bricking my gps. Be happy with lane assist and speed limits. Not so much JV here in PI.
