Unhappy Re: City Navigator North America NT 2013.30

Hi, I have 2460LT and after I updated 2013.30 with Map, JCV and other updates given in the first post, my traffic and JCV are gone. Even the route calculation takes much more time to come up now. Am I doing some thing wrong? Which JVC should use for a split screen? I have not messed up with any folder structures either.

This SD structure will work on a 1490

    SD:\Garmin\jcv\D3060080A.JCV

SD:\Map\gmapsupp.img (Map folder name MUST start with a "M" capital M)

SD:\Poi\safety_camera_US_Canada.gpi (unlocked Cyclops cams can go here)

I have a Kenwood KVT-516 and a Garmin KNA G510 nav attachment. I was wondering if anyone knows if my setup supports 3d or JCV? I currently just have been doing the map updates as they come out. I really like having up to date features and mapping tools Thanks in advance And if it DOES support JCV and or 3d, how do I set up the file root directory so it reads everything properly....

City Navigator North America NT 2013.30

Hi guys. I don't know why this problem occurs: impossible to download 'CNNA201330-49L-IMG-UL.part2.rar' (from "Lower 49 States" unlocked). I tried at least 20 times but it breaks every time... I'm getting crazy. Part 1,3 and 4 full downloaded without any problem but not part 2 . Can someone put this file online somewhere so I could prepare and enjoy my trip to Florida.

    Thanks a lot.

Re: City Navigator North America NT 2013.30

    Hi!

I got Garmin Nuvi 850 Gps which has only 4GB for Internal Hard Drive Capacity. I have additional 8GB SD Card installed too. While emailed with Garmin.com techician support, they told me that the newest updated Maps: NT2013.30 will automatically overwrite the old mps in the GPS Device, leaving the balance of updated maps sotred into the SD Card. In other words, my GPS 850 device don't have enough space for downloading the updated maps (1.86GB), it will leave the balance of updated maps automacially lading onto the SD Card. My question is:-

    1. Can your NT 2013.30 unlocked IMG be done as the Garmin Techican said:- updated maps overwrite the old one, & leave the balance updated maps switch to SD Card lading?
    2. If not, what should I do if my Internal Hard Drive Capacity is not enough to load the updated maps?
    3. I think many of ours have the same problem with the Internal HD capacity: some might have 2GB, 4GB, can you make the NT 2013.30 or future 2013.40 etc be worked as said by the Garmin Technican?
    Thanks

It works as Garmin has told you.

With 4gig you should not have a problem, your old maps will be deleted and replaced by the new ones. There is plenty of room for the files you need (map ".img" and junction view ".JCV" for Norh America)

Whatever stuff you have on your SD will be untouched.

Why not wait a couple weeks? CNNANT 2013.4 are due out.

Re: City Navigator North America NT 2013.30

Hi, I have a Garmin 255W. There is not enough room to load new map to memory, only to an sd card. The problem for me is I have the overlay maps for lakes (US Inland Lakes v3 on the sd card and the GPS uses both maps at the same time. Is there any way that I can load both the new map and the lake map overlay at the same time? Two maps on sd card at the same time? Lake map on gps and roads on sd card? What is the largest sd card the 255W will recognize? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The fact that maps overlap will only cause a problem if you select multiple maps at a time. If you select only one at a time from your map select/info screen you will always be fine. I don't have a 255 but here's muy input.

Your device will support storage for 4 (possibly 5) maps at a time, 2 (possibly 3) in the gps and 2 on sd. You set it all up this way and the limitation on where you place the maps or how many you can use just depends on how much space you have and the size of the maps. You will probabley need a recent 255 firmware version to get support for the 2nd map on SD.

gps:\garmin\gmapprom.img this img will become your default (pre-installed map)
gps:\garmin\gmapsupp.img this is a 2nd map in the gps
gps:\garmin\gmapsup1.img You could also try this for a 3rd (I don't know if the name is recognized in a 255)

sd:\garmin\gmapsupp.img this is a valid msp name for a map on SD
sd:\garmin\gmapsup1.img this is a valid msp name for a 2nd map on SD

I have used 8G cards in 2xx models which is probably more than enough. I believe they will work with 16G and 32G as well.

As far as loading, i'm pretty sure that when the GPS boots, it doesn't load the maps but rather only the information that it will need to use the 4 maps you have out there (a minimal amount of data). This way, after you boot, you can switch between them without having to re-boot. You still have the limitation the the GPS will not work correctly if you select maps with overlapping areas. There's no way around this as far as I know.

My sugggestion is to simply set up the GPS and SD and experimet for yourself. You can't hurt anything by experimenting and you'll might learn quit a bit about the operation of your model.

Re: City Navigator North America NT 2013.30

    Hi!

Thanks for your quitck response. With a 4GB Internal Hard Drive Capacity, there is enough space for NEW Maps updated in overwriting the old maps - IF NO OTHER SOFTWARES INSTALLED - LIKE VOICE, POI, BASEMAPS etc. Kindly reconsider my question:-

When CT 2013.40 IMG be published, can the updated maps be partly overwrited the old ones & LEAVE BALANCE UPDATED MAPS AUTOMATICALLY LOAED ONTO SD CARD? For your Info, I had the problem with the experience of NOT enough capaity of loading CN2013.30 onto the INTERNAL HARD DRIVE before. THerefore, I sent an email to Garmin.com to ask them what to do. They told me the new maps will overwrited the old one, & leaving balance new maps writing onto the SD Card. As a result, I ask whether your CN 2013.40 can do the same as Garmin. com said? Thanks for your advice.

Re: City Navigator North America NT 2013.30

Tiger, Thank you very much for your reply. The info is most helpful. I will try it with the new maps as soon as they are available. I have been using the lake overlay for some time now with no problem. The lakes are just added to the regular map which helps me navigate to lakes that do not even show up on the regular map. I fish in New York state where the law says that I can fish any lake that has pulic access to it. Finding that back road public access is the key.
I think that 8gig is probably overkill but might be easier to find and not much more expensive. Thanks again.

Re: City Navigator North America NT 2013.30

Nuvi 50 and am trying to update maps. Have placed Garmin Full North America NT 2013.30 Unlocked IMG onto an sd card and the Garmin indicates under map info that it is using CN North America NT 2013.30 but when I try to enter an address city province in Canada it indicates cannot find. It works fine for US addresses.

Anyone have any thoughts on what maybe wrong?

Used the maps from here Garmin CN North America NT 2013.30 Unlocked IMG Maps (download torrent) - TPB

If I load just the Canadian map I get Canadian info.
