img file worked great on the wife's nuvi ...

Have not tried them but they should be.

Just replace the old gmap dir with the new unlocked gmap dir.

no PARs and no recovery record. You might want to check your HDD for any errors.

I got those file from the same poster from ********* and they are corrupted, too. Well, same links no wander... Shame. Downloading from first post by P33dro but it takes forever and one file per few hours only...

Hello Tiger,

Will have to try that, the person who posted the unlocked portable mapsource for the .20 thread, it just ran on it's own, even though I have a paid version of mapsource already on the computer.

I'm in a fringe area, because my GPS is my heli's GPSMAP 496, which uses the CN NA as well as Aviation stuff on it. I can't upload like the nuvi or other units, but have to select maps thru mapsource to load to the unit, or onto it's memory card, which is not an SD, it's propriatary.

So I'll try to get the unlocked mapsource files listed in the OP, and see how that goes... thanks!

I have a Nuvi 265WT with NA 2013.20 on my SD.

Now, my question is:
Do I need to download and copy/paste any other files (except the ".img" file) as per the first post of this topic?

PS: I know "3D" and "JCV" files does not work with Nuvi 265WT, but, how about the other files (i.e. G2S, DB and ASR/SRX) etc.?

No other files necessary or supported for a 265 your done.

EDIT: You "could" update the small timezone correction file (gmaptz.img) if you like but it's not necessary.

There is nothing magic about portable mapsource, it's just a simple setup on an SD or USB thumb drive and you can use mapsource on any PC.

Just set up the card or thumb drive exactly like this and it will work. Example... (X is the SD or thumb drive)

x:\Garmin\Mapsource.exe I use the 6.16.3 parched version
x:\Garmin\Maps\City Navigator North America NT 2013.30.gmap <<<< and unlocked gmap folder
x:\Garmin\Maps\City Navigator Europe NT 2013.30.gmap <<<< and unlocked gmap folder
etc... as many maps ad you like

There is no need to download additional mapsource files if you already have gmap folders on your PC which are locked. Unlock them yourself. Simply download an unlocker, put the tool in the gmap folder and run it and your mapsource files will become unlockable on your PC. Then you can use them on your thumb drive or SD just by copying the entire gmap folder ad described above.

Also, If you unlock the gmap folder like this, then any mapsets (gmapsupp.img files) you create with mapsource will also be unlocked.

There are a few tiny tools that will successfully unlock the gmap directory files for you.

UnLockMapsource.exe V2.4
unlock_gmap_1.1.exe
unlock mapset.exe

perhaps other tools as well.
