Garmin City Navigator Indonesia 2014.20 is released. Will be uploading quite soon.
just a quick question... let say I have an old CN map with JCV and SID and all...
now that I want to use a newer CN Map that also comes with its JCV and SID, and if I want to have 2 maps available on my garmin iphone (so that I can toggle it on/off depending on which map I wanna use), will this means:
1. I will need to keep the old CN map .img file (of course) together with its JCV and SID that has currently in its folder for some time..
2. I will need to paste the new map in the same folder where my old CN map .img file is located, and also paste the new JCV that comes with the new map in the folder where my old JCV for the older map is located, that means in the JCV folder I will have 2 JCV files now? one JCV is for the older map, and the other is for the new map?
3. How does JCV and CN map is actually does the work? are they somekind of package that will call out each other when it come to usage (which means I cannot rename the JCV file as I want to?)
thanks in advance...
Golden rule is never mix old and new additional files, and never have different maps covering the same area enabled together, even if different versions of the same series. Hard to understand why you'd want both versions of map and additional files anyway, but one solution is to use separate sd cards and swap to use different versions of the map. Most additional files which work in the unit's .System folder will also work in the card's Garmin folder, but not all. If you want further help advise your unit and it's origin and firmware [ID, US/EU, SG/MY etc].
thanks for the respond.. will keep in mind the so called "golden rule", answering your question; I usually try to put 2 different version of maps for the same area, as sometime one of the other map could somehow "found" the destination we looking for.. or we could say one of the other has better information of the destination. But the problem is not always one of the 2 maps could be concluded as more complete map than the other. It always kinda depend on the destination we are looking for, but yea most of the time the 2 maps shows almost pretty much the same result for most destination...
thanks anyway.. will do as what you suggested...
