    How can I do this?
    Thank you.
This. A friend dropped off her 650t that came with her Can-AM 1000 Limited and I'm running into the same issue. I've selected maps (all unlocked) from several different products and transferred them to the 650t using both Mapsource and BaseCamp as a single gmapsupp.img file. However, they all show up in map info under one name making it impossible to select/deselect individual map products. Any way to work around this?

    original gmapsupp.img and gmaptz.img for Montana 600

First let me thank you all for your hard work and the great wealth of knowledge that you have posted.

I have bought a Montana 600 for my father for christmas. I was going to load topo maps for him and do a firmware update before I gave it to him.

I tried to upload some topo maps of our state and sent them to the internal memory instead of the sd card.

does anyone have a link to the original gmapsupp.img and the gmaptz.img files that came with the Garmin Montana 600. I had not done a backup at this point and now the topo maps are included in these files.

Or does anyone know how to restore the files to original state in another way.

I want to try to get this back the way it was before christmas.
Thank you for your time and help.

Re: Max memory card for Montana

There is an easy fix. On your computer simply renamed each file you want to have on the Garmin Montana to a different name such as TopoMap1, TopoMap2, HikingTrails, City navigator, etc. The Montana doesn't care what the names are so you don't have to worry about the default map name. Now download the map files to the Garmin directory or SD card on the device and when you choose the select map option, you will see each map type separately.

    Re: screen calibration problems

known problem with montana 600 series, screen loses calibration and will not re-calibrate (unit gives a calibration is complete message but isnt).

best over use your unit to make sure you don't have a defective one, it only happens with use and gets worse and worse until you can no longer press in the right place.

just thought i'd let you all know as this happened to me and i've also now read on other forums.

    Problem Unlocking 24k TOPO

I have a Montana 650t and have D/L the 24kTOPO Mid-Atlantic that SkyGear had placed on TPB.

I ran the IMG using FIU and assumed it should/would remove all locking on the IMG.

Then I copied the unlocked IMG to my Montana, but kept getting a message "Can't Unlock Maps" on the Montana.

I tried it a couple of times thinking I may have made an error, but nope, I did it correctly with the same error message.

Any Ideas? Do I still need to generate some sort of UNL file or something else ?

    Thanks.

It's possible that the montana firmware requires an unlock file. Won't hurt to try.

    UPDATE:
Browse this thread, there is info about mapping files in a Montana.

    Re: Problem Unlocking 24k TOPO

    Hi!

Is it worth using class 10 micro SDHC cards instead of class 4? Is there any improved reading performance?

    Thanks

I have cl2, 4, 10 and see no differences in the gps. Only noticeable difference seems to be writing the maps to the cards in the firs place. As expecte.... huge differences using thes in a Digital camera when taking video or storing pics.
