It seems that Garmin is definitively protecting their property. The firmware of the new gpsmap 64 checks very efficient if the gpsmap contains a legal version of City Navigator. Tools like Garmin Unlocker and other attempts don't work anymore.
I was able to load the Alaska Topo Enhanced maps without issue but even though the North America 2014.40 is unlocked, it fails to open. After a bit of research, it seems to have something to do with the *.gma file or *.unl file but since they are unlocked it shouldn't even require such files. It's beyond me. Someone eventually will come up with a viable solution, I'm hoping.
yeah this is pretty upsetting. i even tried using the openstreetmaps and they won't authenticate. now garmin isn't protecting their property, they're defying open source software and work how would we get working on a solution for this? i had to buy cn europe nt 2014 and can provide a GMA file if needed.
