Re: nüvi 1690/nüLink! 1695
Hi I am new to this site and GPS in general, I am after some help, advice and constructive comment.
As a family we have 3x 1695 nulink live units. Only one has LMU support and a little warranty as the other two were bought used and cheap on EBay.
From what I have read here it seems perfectly practicable to unlock the LMU update info and mirror it across all units.
Using good back up management practices new file identification should be easy for JCV, SQlite and G2S files. This I hope will save the faff of downloading and torrents etc.
I have had a problem of not enough internal memory so the on board map is now Western Europe only, not a problem in its self as I don’t see me driving there and I could always make a SD map if required. I have removed all the bloat in terms of voices, help, elcu’s, vehicles, photos and the gupdate.gcd file that are not needed as per some of the posts recommendations but I still only have 193mb free, is this enough for general use and scheduled updating ?
I am interested in POI Cyclops speed cameras, surprised that there is not a tutorial on this or have I just missed the simplicity of adding unlocked .gpi files to POI folder. How do you check that they are active?
One post talks about checking in setting but I don’t recognize anything related to speed cameras? It is probably very obvious and I am just being thick!
In my POI folder I have some .gma files what do they do?
Many thanks in advance and I shall continue reading this immensely helpful site.
