Increasing Volume on Hands free Bluetooth Phone Option On Nuvi 885T

I finally got all my tty voices hacked at decent volume levels for trip directions, hooray! NOW- all i need to do is figure out a way to tweak the output sound level for my 885T so it is loud enough that i can comfortably hear conversations with my customers ad linked with my htc hd2 cell phone for my small pest control company http://www.onecallpestcontrol.com The people i am calling can hear me fine, however i struggle to hear them, and i have the sound levels at 100% and good hearing. I could use the fm option link up but i need to listen to the radio for work purposes and you cannot do both at the same time. TO FIX/INCREASE Voice volume and also make American Jill or any of the other peoples voices say what you want look up "TURBOCCC wiki page at: http://turboccc.wikispaces.com ITS A GREAT SITE WITH GREAT APPS>

Can someone help me out with this, or lead me in the right direction for a solution. i just do not understand why garmin can play mp3's at acceptable levels of sound, but an untweaked unit cannot play directions or output phone levels that are just crappy. the app i found is the only one on the WEB that worked for me with the tty direction sound levels, now i need to tweak the phone output sound

    thanks

Garmin "New" Method for D/L Maps from Garmin Website

I read this info on another forum and wondered if if just applies to the nuvi 8xx series, or is it another layer or protection to keep people from hacking and copying the maps ? Anyone have any experience wiht this "new" method or comments ?

QUOTE: "As someone else reported, Garmin has an entirely new installation process for this map. You start by downloading a 3MB updater, then run that. No more Download Manager as in the past.

As the Updater starts, you're offered standard or advanced installation. I chose advanced and see that the default update setting for my nuvi 855 is to: 1) install all of North America and 2) to install to my GPS only. So I imagine that if you don't go with the Advanced option, your GPS will be updated but your computer and Mapsource will NOT. If true, and if you want the new map on your computer, go for Advanced and change the default to "install to GPS and computer."

Interesting. By choosing to install to my GPS and computer, I'm warned that the download will take longer.

Since my download process has just started, I may be wrong in this--but it appears that we no longer will have the executable 2GB file downloaded which can be saved on hard disk or to DVD-R for a future installation. If true, and if you have multiple Garmins under lifetime maps, it definitely appears that a download will be required for each unit--none of this "download once, then use the 2GB file to update all lifetimed nuvis you own." Updating multiple units will take longer from now on.

One nice thing about this new updater is that if you have maps to be used by Mapsource in a custom location (think d:\garmin, for instance), the updater will correctly find your old maps and offer to install this new map to the same location.

    backlight

I can set my backlight display to stay on with no problem, but when I use the car charger the display is very dim.

Cant seem to find a solution for this.

    I have the garmin 880.

The battery doesn't hold a charge for very long either. Even the replacement battery.

ASR Directory / Voice Command / Nuvi 8xx unit map upgrades NOTE:::

Note to ALL Europa and North America MAP posters:

In order for ALL the Voice Commands for the Nuvi 8xx's to function (and perhaps the 3790 as well), not only are the ASR and SRX files necessary but also necessary are the several (7 for NA CNNT 2011.20) smaller .SRD Files - they allow address entry voice command searches to work.

Without the .SRD Files, no Address entry is possible using voice.

PLEASE: Post NA CNNT 2011.20 xxxxxx.SRD (found only on 8xx Nuvi's as far as I can tell) Files somewhere so Address search entry can be accomplished. The ASR and SRX files are already out there, but not the .SRD files. Please help if possible. TIA.

    nüvi 885T

Updated my 885T to 2011.20 NA CN NT (both US/CAN (1.224 GB) and US/CAN/MEX (1.343 GB) tried). I was told the .SRD files in the ASR Directory do not matter. Then I added the correct version of ASR/SRX files into the ASR Directory. Everything functions using voice remote commands EXCEPT for the Where To/Address input. Error message saying not available for area currently in. Washington, D.C. is my location. Anyone have any idea what I need to do to get Address entries entered by voice command, please? Very depressed about losing Address Voice Input. Much thanks for any help or hints.

Solved problem by pasting in new edition of ASR files.
