I'm not an expert on this but I don't believe it's NOT possible to do that on your Nuvi 1390.

You need one of the 3 specialized GPS models from the 400 series to get the trucking compatibility features not found in other models.

    https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=275&ra=true

They appear to use the standard City Navigator but your 1390 can't display all the layers and doesn't implement trucking features in it's firmware.

It also looks like the trucking info bay be available only for USA and CAN.

Re: How can I upgrade my Garmin 1390T

Hi all, I'm new to all this hence why I'm posting this lol. I'm looking for the latest maps for my Nuvi 1390. Is it possible to put them onto a micro sd card to use them once I've downloaded them? Any help would be greatfully appreciated

Yes, in fact it's the recommended way to do it because the 1390 has limited internam memory. Get a cheap 4 gig or 8 gig card. * is probably desireable if you want multiple "large" maps together such ad Europe complete AND Noth America complete.

You didn't mention which maps you are looking for but the latest will be in the Maps section.

Garmin nüvi 1390T - Map updates

I was browsing thru most of the forum and couldn't get a proper answer to my question.
Someone please help me to guide to update the proper files and images.

To update this to the latest, what are the files I need?
Do I need to update the POI files?

    Thanks,

    Thanks,
To add or update a map in a 1390.

Your unit supports only the map (named either gmapsupp.img or gmapprom.img)
That is all that is required.

Your unit also supports the junction view file "Dxxxxxx.JCV" (full screen version) MATCHED to the specific map you are trying to use.
This is optional and if omitted you just will not see the junction view photos popping up.

The 6 million or so POI's (points of interest) are built into the map ".img" file.

You COULD, if you wish, also download and use the appropriate Cyclops Safety Cams for your area.
They are ".GPI" files and go in a POI folder in you 1390.
