Re: flash garmin nuvi 205
NO, not possible at the moment, can use only 465/dezl560 or look arround for a Becker 50 Transit(Igo maps) that cost les than a dezl560 and have truck navigation.

Alternative battery for Nuvi 205W
Hi I am an Australian in Vietnam and my Nuvi 205W battery went down. As you can imagine you can not buy a Garmin battery here so I did some researching and found no alternatives on the net. I took the battery out and went looking at the mobile phone shops in town. Found that the Nokia BL-5J is a perfect match. It fits the Nokia 5230 / 5800 / C3-00 / N900 / X6 it has 1320mha and 3.7v. Exact same size and only cost US $3 and re soldering the contacts on the new battery was done for free in the store. Works like a charm.
I hope this helps some else out in the future.

Garmin 205W power cord issue???
Hi,
I have a 205W that I got without the original cord. I am have trouble getting it to either charge or make it work correctly from any car power cord. I can make it work for a while, but not after I power it off. I have another Garmin, a 255W, that has the original Garmin 12V cord and when I use that cord on the 205W, it goes directly into computer mode (little pic of the computer). If I use a regular USB cable, it also goes to computer code. It goes to computer mode with either a computer or a 12V USB charger on the USB cable. After the battery charges a little, I can power up without the charger, press and hold the battery (i.e. debug mode), then I can plug in the cable, and lastly exit this debug mode and it will operate normally. But once it’s powered down, it goes back to computer mode when the cord is plugged in. I purchased what was SUPPOSED TO BE a Garmin 205/205W aftermarket cord. It does NOT charge the battery or even show up as being connected when in debug mode. (It stays in battery mode). This “supposed to be Garmin 205/205W” cable however, works the 255W just fine.
So, do I have a broken GPS, a bad charger, dead batter or the wrong charger? I did the power-on and hold the bottom right side of the screen to reset. It still acts exactly the same. I don't want to get an original Garmin 205W cord as I am not really sure that there is a actually a cord specific to that model. All the after market units list compatible with this long list of model numbers.
Thanks,
chuck

Re: nüvi 205/205W
Its a little late but,
That is they way it works, you need a USB cable or charger that only supply's power and not data connections to let the device work while plugged in.
The 12V charger to mini USB cable should work on the 205.
If your battery is not holding a good charge then it will cause a similar problem. You need the battery charged to least 30% for it to charge from the USB connection from a PC, otherwise you need a charger to charge it up.
I had a Motorola charge that worked good on my Nuvi 205.
