Hi, I followed this and my 1300 shows the new map in Settings/map.info, but it also shoes "no map data available" when I try to input an address. What else do I need to do? Thanks, Simon
After backing up my files to my hard drive I evidently inadvertently screwed the system as I now cannot advance past the Garmin Logo on start up. I also am unable to see the Nuvi as a drive on my PC.
Anyone know of a way to restore the PC access to the GPS?
This question is moot now. I tried everything at my disposal to get my PC to recognize the GPS to no avail. I contacted Garmin and it is on the way to them for repair.
If anyone has an answer though, I would still be interested.

got the same problem. I can use poi, favourite place. but if I touch address, GPS will show" no map data available" .
Installed the new CN North America 2012.10 gmapsupp.img on a Sandisk 2.0 gb SD card. The PC sees it in the Garmin Directory on the card, however, the GPS does not load or see the map when restarted. It has the latest firmware installed. Any suggestions appreciated.
did you create a folder named map in your sd card & place the gmapsupp.img to that folder?

Just swapped the old for new map on a friends Garmin 1300... THANK YOU to those who gave info on finding hidden files & folders!!
Not a problem I had on my 660 - NO hidden folders!
Hello,
My 1300 has no sound at all. I've updated firmware, tried changing voices, ensured mute button is unchecked and tried a factory reset. Still no beeps and no voices. Any idea what could have gone wrong.?

For those with a nüvi 1300 and need to load the map with name gmapsupp.img here are some notes:
1.- If you don't have an SD card to load the map you can copy the file to the .System folder in the Garmin using a USB cable.
2.- Is probable that after loading the file your nüvi 1300 still does not recognize the map under Tools/Settings/Map/Info, the reason why is because your GPS device does not recognize gmapsupp.img as a map file.
3.- Rename gmapsupp.img to gmapprom1.img (taking in consideration that in that folder should already be a file named gmapprom.img)
4.- Reboot your device and go to Tools/Settings/Map/Info, you should be able know to see any additional map.
Hope this help.
