for which region Nuvi 255W ?
if US version,
http://www.garmin.com/software/nuvi2...eonly__640.gcd for firmware version 6.40
http://www.garmin.com/software/nuvi2...eonly__620.gcd for firmware version 6.20
if you want the older firmware,
http://www.garmin.com/software/nuvi2...eonly__XXX.gcd "XXX" is the firmware version,
let say, you want firmware version v5.30, just put the "XXX" = 530
for example: http://www.garmin.com/software/nuvi2...eonly__530.gcd then you will get the firmware version v5.30 download.

Recently my nuvi 255w started to crash whenever the unit starts to perform a "recalculation" of the route being taken. This meaning I am taking another route as calculated by the GPS, and it needs to recalculate an alternate route for the destination. Any ideas what's wrong? I have updated to the latest firmware and perform a factory reset, and its still happening. I am using the default 2010.10 maps that came with my GPS unit.

Hello, I recently recieved a Garmin Nüvi 255 and I was wondering if I can put navigation software on it it that is suited for Large Vehicles.
We have a large Motorhome Length :9m40 ,Weight : 6.2 Tons and Height : 3m45 and it is towing a boat , so the total length is 16m .
I really would like to have software that has road restrictions for length, Height and Weight.

Is it possible on the nüvi?

I found some info that it is possible to flash the nuvi 465 firmware to a 205w & 255w to get the lane assist feature as well as downloadable routes, and even tts on non tts units. I was just wondering if anyone has tried this at all. See site below

I've a nüvi 255W and I want to install the latest maps for europe untill Turkey.
I had already done 2 or 3 years ago by installing on my computer a map soft and then instal the country that I want seperatly on my device.
can you please help me?
