    Garmin 37xx Question about Maps

Have numerous Garmin and love this site for upgrading maps and getting Europe (I live in US) maps into my GPS. Thinking of getting 3790 but have been trying to figure out if the new map scheme will allow me to put in the maps like before. Can this still be done? thanks!

Slight change in setup i think, i was told you need to put maps in a folder on sd card called Maps !! Have'nt tried this yet but i did try my GB topo sdcard and it worked ok without setting anything up, just made the contour lines look a bit thick.

its still basically the same method nothing hard about it
only difference is the system files is hidden so you have to set the computer folder options to show hidden files
the other thing is if your adding extra maps you place them in a new folder you make called "map" under the drive you can see that is not hidden or you can still add them into the system directory as well
i have one and its a great unit

You still have the GARMIN FOLDER on the SD card as well for extra Maps

    like this

This is how you would see the drive without hidden files
And you see the map folder well that is where your suppose to put any extra maps

This is with the hidden files showing "NOTE" the "SYSTEM FOLDER"

And this is inside the .System folder as i said it is HIDDEN

    Hope that helps

Hi wilma I hope you were refering to Nuvi 3790 If you want to combine two map images together the best and quickest way would be to join 2 unlocked maps with GMapTool the 3D file has to be downloaded for the same map otherwise it will not show
so download 2 unlocked map images with 3D and JCV then it will work

    Hope I helped

actually, the quickest way is just install the second set of map onto the microsd card from mapsource, or if you have just the .img, rename the one on the microsd to gmapsupp.img, and add the unlock code to gmapsupp.unl under the /garmin directory. Copy the jcv under the corresponding directory on the microsd card

Re: NUI 3790 NA and EU

    Hi all,

thankls for the suggestions. Maxan, can I make the same directories on a microsd card and copy all the corresponding files to those directories? i.e. make following directories: \garmin and under garmin I make: \system and underr system: \ASR, JCV, G2S, SQLite. I put the files under corresponding catalogue on the microsd card? I read somewhere that you should have a catalogue named MAP on the card to able the system to read the maps.
