Hello everyone,

I just bought the new nuvi 3970, and i would really like to tell me guys, how to extract the 3d building map and how to unlock it?

what are the tools and how to do it.

3D maps are not locked. They are transparent maps - overlapping on top of img map.
What is your purpose of extracting them. They are applicable to that country img file only.

my reason is to share it with those who need it. I got the middle east map 2011 and 3d buildings 2011 also, and i saw that people are waiting sick to get it, but how to extract it, do you know? and what are the tools? how to extract the map it self in the first place ?

You can try the global mapper software. If you are experienced enough. Download the global mapper from Garmin tools and tweaks and do the extraction.
I am wondering how the other is going to use the 3Ds that you extract. You have to rewrite the mpc files format. Create demos using cgpsmappers. That no easy job.

How can I extract the pre-loaded maps from garmin nuvi 3790T?

Copy the 3d img into blank directory of PC.
Use gmaptool and split up the 3D img into small parts. Extract the part that you want with GPS mapedit.
But all the transparent files will be grouped together as per split file. One by one you pick them by location.
This way it is not convertible for other gps software.

Sorry Airion, but you look like you never tried the new nuvis, you can not see the .img file, i don't know what technology they are using but its not possible to see them, i have looked every single folder but no use.
its like hidden or something , but you cannot reveal them.
i don't know if they encrypt that particular part of the internal hard disk.
but the old version of maps can be installed easily by creating a folder and call it "Map", and put all the .img files inside it. and it should work fine.

Do we have experts here that can show us how to get the pre-loaded maps that is hidden.

You see what you can do. Anyway I did manage to extract and merge back the file from the 3D.img. They are not invisible at all.
