    Delating cameras in POI

    Hi!
Yep, I'm an old timer, first timer.
Got the latest files for cameras, and ok with it all.
Problem is, in my POI folder are files named - UKCYCLOPSSAMPLE.GPI, UKCYCLOPSSAMPLE.unl, and 006D135900.gpi.
Do I delete the UKCYCLOPSSAMPLE files and replace them with the new ones named 'safety_camera_uk' files?
I paid Garmin to update the camera database a couple of years ago, so not sure if the 006D135900.gpi file relates to that?
    Thanks.
    John

If you are using NEW 'safety_camera_uk' can delete old GPI and UNL files and replace with the new ones.

Thank you very much for the reply. Much appreciated.
To be clear, I can delete the files - UKCYCLOPSSAMPLE.GPI, UKCYCLOPSSAMPLE.unl and the 006D135900.gpi?
And yes, they are the new files.
    Thanks again.

Yes, than copy the new safety_camera_uk.gpi file in POI folder and create a new safety_camera_uk.unl file with jetmouse.

    Re: Delating cameras in POI

Did that and tried it today.
It picked up cameras erected since I paid to upgrade it, so the files are working.
    Kind of...
There's no audible warning now, though.
    All the settings are fine.
I'm going to put the three deleted files back on, along with the new ones, and see what happens then.
I'll let you know, and the others who've been viewing this topic.
    Thanks.

    Re: Delating cameras in POI

I'm struggling with my gpi files as well.
    I've got the latest safety_camera_uk.gpi & I generated a safety_camera_uk.unl file.
I have put them into the Garmin/Poi file and they seem to be accepted by my Nuvi 270 because they
appear in the System/Info list as the 2011 versions.
The problem is, if I delete the original Poi.gpi file (which has been there since 2007) the speed cameras
are NOT shown on the map display.
Should the Poi.gpi file stay (maybe with old info) or did a make a mistake?

    EDIT:
    Sorted it out myself.
The 2011 cyclops speed cameras DO WORK but they only appear on the map (with warning) during
actual driving or simulating a route. They only show on the map at this time.

    Re: Delating cameras in POI

Not been where speed cameras are until now!
Put the old files back on, along with the new one.
Cameras work with an audible warning.
But, only from the old database.
    New ones are missing.
Oh well, looks like digging into my pockets.
Thanks for all the help I've had anyway.

    Re: Delating cameras in POI

Don't give up John, I have a Nuvi 610, mine also has a starnge POI file which I left on it and just deleted the 'sample; files and put the new ones in. I tried the files offered by andy1 but the Garmin Cyclops are better (I tried London to south France with both sets installed) the cyclops files take a bit longer to install, but have got it down to about 15mins now and these even know which side of the road the camera is on, so there's a lot less false alarms.

I have written a help file which may be of use, just have look down the other camera listings with additions by me (Nosha) - hope it helps.

So are we saying " theukcyclopssample " gma and " ukcyclopssample ".unl files within the poi folder are kept and not deleted, its only the " ukcyclopssample ".gpi that is deleted and replaced with the new one ??

    Re: Delating cameras in POI

    You have 3 files:
ukcyclopssample - gpi is the database
ukcyclopssample - unl is the unlock code for the gpi file
ukcyclopssample - gma is the certificate for the gpi file

if you delete the ukcyclopssample.gpi file the other 2 files are useless.

too see if the cyclops aworks must be listed on your Extras & Safety Cameras
