All you NEED for any of thes modelse for maps is the UNLOCKED IMG file for what ever country you seek. You may need to do you updates on SD if the maps will not fit for the 610 & 765. The maps are all you need for the GPS to function. The other files are to support features on a model by model basis.
The 610 does not support any othe files except the maps.
The 765 can also make use of the Juncton View file (.JCV) and 3D Buildings file UNLOCKED gmap3D.img if you have them loaded.
The 2597 supports a variety of extra files and you can use averything marked for 2xxx series and also voice recognition files for that 2597 if you can find them. Our section on how to update maps in your device should explain everything you need.
.system\gmaptz.img - time zone map (765 could use this also
.system\SID\.sid (Address Point).system\SID\D3406030A.sid (Traffic Trends)- 149Mb
.system\SID\.sid (InstaSearch POI)
.system\SID\.sid (Address Search)
.system\ASR\.SRX (Voice recognition)
.system\ASR\.ASR (Voice Recognition)
Then the contributor to the map, shouldn't had uploaded 5 different kind of unlocked map, since 1 map will cover all types of nuvi, right?
I disagree... There are a lot of considerations. There are the maps (IMG files) to consider and the support files (different versions even for different Nuvis). Also remumber that there are many GPS models other than Nuvis that use these maps and many have size restrictions.
Many folks also don't want to deal with ONE giant map file that covers massaive geographical areas they have no interest in ever visiting. They prefer only what they realistically need. I don't the guy going from the USA to Italy for a couple week holiday really wants to deal with the the entire huge European map.
Smaller maps are often much more desireable and as a community I feel we should be grateful to the contributors/uploaders who make the extra effort to upload all those variations.
