I have a Garmin nuvi 1690 HW:1130 SW: 3.90 that power up and its working fine (routing, gps sattelites but no voices and the only language is American English), maps are installed on SD card but the internal memory is not accessible, I do not know why but when I plug to the USB port PC is freezing explorer. I want to install voice and language files but I can not access the internal memory so I thought if I can find Garmin xml file from the same nuvi 1690 and modify with my serial number so i can install through the web updater system files on SD card. Is this possible or is any way to repair internal memory. I tried to format internal flash with RMPrepUSB but no luck. Is there solution for this problem.
When you try to format it what hapening exactly? In fact Nuvi devices is easy to repair via direct eMMC reprograming if you have eMMC socket or solder wires to ISP pins and good working dump from same ( or nearby ) device.
Thanks for replay debeliamark, just managed to format drive with Garmin cure and RMPrepUSB now the drive is acessible but it is empty, WebUpdater or Garmin express cannot find device probably becaus no Garmindevice.xml firmware is working fine but i can not understund from where the firmware is loading. I still cannot update voices and languages. Restarting device, hard resset wont help create new device.xml
