I rarely do that but this sequence (from the old forum) has worked for me.
in step 7 you nee to supply your own mapset name
in step 9 you need the FID for the maps you are trying to install
Converting an img to mapsource
1. Run the GMapTool.exe
2. Hit "Add Files" and add the "gmapprom.img" file
2.5. Under the "options" tab tell it the location of cgpsmapper.exe
3. Click on "Split" at the top.
4. Select the directory where you want to save it
5. Make sure that "Create" is set to "files for mapsource"
6. Make sure there is a tick in "compile map preview"
7. Mapset name is "CN AUS & NZ NT 2010.10"
8. Tick "set mapset FID"
9. FID is 2006 and PID is 1
10. Click on "split all".
11. Wait until it is done, should take a couple of minutes.
12. Close GmapTool.exe
13. Open the directory from step 4.
14. Locate install.bat and run it.
15. That should be all you need to do to install maps into mapsource.
Plese some to tell me more about (2.5 tell it the location of cgpsmapper.exe) - I don"t undertnd.

Hi all,
Although it's a known topic, I cannot find a clear guide how I can open the file in Mapsource.
I have been able to copy the file to my Garmin Edge 705 without any issues. I just had to copy it and it worked.
However, I would like to prepare bicycle tours on my pc and transfer it to the GPS. Therefore, the map has to be visible in Mapsource, and even after two days of looking on different forums, I still don't know how I can import this gmapsupp.img into Mapsource.
Thanks
Kira

Hi, thx for the info. But now I see my Garmin Edge 705 appearing in the left window of basecamp. However, I can still not see my map CN Europe NT 2010.20 in my micro SD card on the device although it works fine directly on the Garmin device. (I can plan a route on the device) Any idea why I cannot see the map in basecamp?
thx
Kira

Normally Basecamp is also showing the map, when reading from the device.
But I doubt you can plan with this your routes
My suggestion, download the Mapsource version of CN Europe 2010.20 and install it on ur PC.
Btw. 2011.10 is currently the latest one
