    Why cant people just do that?
    Because older units can't do that. They only accept the name gmapsupp.img on the SD-card and it must be in the Garmin folder.

    I dont like them all under 1 file as i find it slower, plus this way when these are unlocked its easier to move the maps to other GPS when needed and not worry about installing mapsource.,

    I am new to GPS's, i always would use map and compass so this was a massive jump for me. Does it sound right what im doing, just it seemed logical to do things this way.
    I do it like this too, just name them gmapsupp when I want to use them!!

    Webber-XX,

    The Afghanistan Maps I got from a lot of searching. It took me a few hours to get the 2010 version I wanted. I am not in the best location to upload anything but as soon as I can I will get them up on Rapidshare for you.

    Since I don't have a 1300 I can only tell you what I have read at another forum. For the different names to work the map should be in the /Map-folder and not the /Garmin-folder. If the /Map folder does not exist you have to create it first. Try this and please report back here.

    Regards,
    Try this:
    basemap named GMAPBMAP.IMG;
    firstmap(whatever you need/want) named GMAPPROM.IMG;
    secondmap(whatever you need/want) named GMAPSUPP.IMG.
    It worked for me: garmin xt 5.00.20wp on HD/Blackstone & Touch2/Mega.
    Let me know if it worked for you.
    Cheers!

    Re: Multiple maps on SD

    The newer units refer to the 3xxx and 14xx models for a start plus a few others these units have the ability to have multiple maps in their onboard memory and multiple maps named whatever you want on an SD card, but must end in .img I use a 3790 and have Europe America and Mid east in the unit plus 3 other maos on an SD card, but this is not possible on "older" model units even if you did just buy it.

    Re: Multiple maps on SD

    Iam from india. I like to combine indian maps from different vendors...like
    1. Map my india
    2. Sat guide
    3. City Navigator India
    what if i combine all these maps together. will it show properly since all three maps cover the same regions.
    Or will there be any overlapping errors.

    I know how to work with gmaptool to combine maps or use it for mapsource.

    Iam planning to use this on a KENWOOD EXCELON DNX 6960 WITH INBUILT GARMIN HARDWARE.
    Thanks
