Multiple maps on SD

Two or more maps by different vendors that cover the same geographic area sounds problematic to me.

I don't know for sure... haven't tried it... but I'll bet it'll work fine <IF> you only enable one of those maps at a time.

How? On my Nuvi 765, I go into "Tools\Settings\Map\Map Info" to enable or disable maps. I would think you would have no problem as long as you had only one map enabled at a time.

Iam from india. I like to combine indian maps from different vendors...like
1. Map my india
2. Sat guide
3. City Navigator India
what if i combine all these maps together. will it show properly since all three maps cover the same regions.
Or will there be any overlapping errors.

I know how to work with gmaptool to combine maps or use it for mapsource.

Iam planning to use this on a KENWOOD EXCELON DNX 6960 WITH INBUILT GARMIN HARDWARE.

SOLUTION:

First post here so let's make it a good one. I bumped into the Map\ folder idea for SD cards by reading a thread on poi-factory.com.
I tested it on my 1350T running the latest firmware (SW Ver 5.00), and it works:

You can store multiple img files in the X:\Map folder, and you can name them whatever you want. By default there is no Map\ folder so you'll have to create one.
I have files named Europe-2011-40.img and TOPO-BeNeLux.img in that folder, and it's being picked up just fine. In fact, I don't have an img in the Garmin\ folder anymore right now.

I have a Dakota 20 and I want to put multiple img files on sd card. I put the somename.img files in Garmin folder without any success. Also I put it in a Map folder but without luck. My GPS read only gmapsupp.img and gmapbmap.img file name on SD card. Where I'm wrong?

I have tryed to make one file out of Garmin BlueChart G2Vision - VEU710L - Denmark, Skagerrak & Kattegat (v10.00) (1.33GB) - unlocked and Garmin City Navigator Europe 2011.32 NT - Unlocked (2.02GB).
I ended up with an file of 3.35GB on my sd card, it loads fine on my Garmin GPSMAP 620, but there is missing some things, landmap is not detailet anymore only major roads, sea map is missing 3D perspektive, satphotos and mutch more.

What am i doing wrong here?
Is there any other solution for me so that i can have both these maps in my GPS?

I own a GarmiN 1440 and I have several maps installed on the SD card in a map folder. Installed the ***.jvc files also on the SD CARD in folder garmin\jvc\.
Works fine but my question is, where should I place the 3d files and do I have to rename them.

You are doing something very wrong.
On my Dakota 20 microSD card I have a folder named Garmin. It has 12 "somename.img" files and they all work perfectly.

Make sure you have the lastest soft\firmware update from Garmin - v4.30

yes, read post #18, applied to nokia too (add gmapsup2.img)
but you can't activate 2 maps of the same region/country at the same time
and each map must < 2gb (which is place in garmin folder)

You can perform a comparable with Mapsource. choose out the components from the credit rating cards you would like and mail it for the GPS.
