I also discovered that the producer is not Harman Kardon, but the true model is Fujitsu Ten FT0021A. Maybe Harman Kardon put its name on U.S. market, since i saw some pics... I live in Italy and it's marked only as Subaru.
I have access to the SD... Do you think i can replace that card with something compatible with Igo Primo?
If your system reads maps and navi software itself entirely from SD, than "update" is normally piece of cake. But is also possible that software is installed in the system's internal memory and the content (maps, pois etc..) are on SD. In that case you need to gain access to internal memory like Kor@l wrote, which could be very difficult if not impossible by the user. The same system is in Clio IV and Dacia, which still puzzles experienced navi experts and crackers.. Anyway, first of all, make some screens of the original SD content.
I'm quite sure navi software is in the internal memory. If i look to the content of the SD i only find maps, poi, voices and few other files... No kind of executables.
So you say it's impossible to update with new maps?
I'm not familiar with your system, therefore I just speculate with possible options, so please, do not take my words as final and relevant. But you confirmed my fears, as the software is on the internal memory and only the content is on SD. At that point, I cannot help you much more, since that kind of system never came in my hands, so I can't make any further or final conclusions..All I know if the system is MediaNav, the same as in Renault or Dacia, you are screwed (for now). Check this thread: MediaNav Renault/Dacia.
Thank you very much for your kind help! I saw that Thread
I ordered on Ebay a 4GB SD to make some tests.
I said only maps and data are on SD, but i should analyze a bit more, cause earlier i tried to remove SD card from my navi system and if i press MAP, it suddenly says "No SD present" (or smth like that). If the program IGO was on the internal flash i could expect at least it could be loaded and then say something like "no map, no data".
Please be patient, what should i expect to find on SD in order to understand if ther is IGO executable or not?
I just downloaded IGO Primo 2.4 to see structure of the directories and i clearly can find the file Primo.exe which is not present in my SD...
So it seems this is the same system as in Dacia and Renault IV, like I mentioned in previous posts..Obviously Nav N Go puts really big efforts with the adaptation of iGO software with those units..Can you imagine that I have also a direct contact to a very experienced technician in our big Renault service and even himself can't provide much technical details or schemes about this system, so even they are all confused about it..I guess that all upcoming various navi systems of the new generation will be harder to understand and cra*k and this is the perfect example!
I've made another test.
Before writing and erasing on my original Subaru SD, I bought an SD 4GB SDHC Kingston (microSD with adapter).
I've tried in many way to copy all the content on it (even with low level cloning software) but when i put this new SD on the Navi, it's not recognized (not invalid maps, but not recognized) and the Navi, after a minute (more or less) re-bootstraps.
I thought maybe it doesnt support SDHC, so i took an old microSD (not HC) with only 2 GB of size, i've copied a lot of things on it (all except some voices and several maps, just for a test): same result
