Purchasing Chinese GPS for Garmin apps?

    Hi,

My first purpose exploring the forum today was to know if Garmin GPS can work with Windows CE.NET 5.0 and/or Windows CE6.0 .

I read here they can run it. So,I plan the purchase of this item:
Bluetooth 7" Car GPS Navigator AV-IN USA Map and 2.4G Wireless Car Rear View Camera

I own actually a Nuvi 1450 and like it very much and use a back up camera with a ''stamp sized sceen'' on my mirror. The sceen is too small and the blue tint alters the mirroring capacities so I want combine the two on one big screen.

It is not a problem for me to purchase the GPS mentionned above and do the 'mecanical' installation in my car.My aprehensions are if I can simply transfers all the 'programs' from my Nuvi 1650 to the Chinese GPS (copy-paste) and navigate using the Garmin stuff ?

I received very good help from from fellows here (Kor@l and bam-bam) so I know you are good guys...

    Thank's

Doubt very much if you can copy-paste from a Garmin device(linux system?) to a Windows CE device. Garmin navigator for WinCE(Garmin Mobile XT) is readily available everywhere though.

My personal experience is that Garmin Mobile XT works easiest on almost all WinCE5 devices. On WinCE6, that's another story - a lot more experimentation is required.

If you still want to go ahead with Garmin Mobile XT, check here for the software:

    Mobile XT/PC

You may want to checkout Igo Primo, otherwise. A great navi software for WinCE 5 & 6. My current favourite.

    Thank's a lot hashima,

You said Igo is easier to work with it.I take a look around in the forum and I saw I can obtain good maps of Canada AND France (I live 3month/year in Europe).

I'll probably order a 7'' GPS after Christmas. What version of WinCE is better for Igo Primo, 5 or 6 ?

    Thank's

Primo works well on all versions of WinCE(4.2, 5.0, 6.0).

You might want to start downloading now.

The program you can get from here:

iGO primo™ v1.2 (9.2.1.179499) with Premium TMC and various Skins

    and the maps:

    Okay hashima,

    I suppose the:

''Main Chip, Sirf dual-core, CPU AT550 with Support System Windows CE6.0''

    is better than the:

''Main chip ATK, single-core, CPU ARN11 400MHz with Operating system Windows CE5.0''

    and the resolution'' 800 x 480'' is better than ''480 x 272'' ?

    (I have 2 X 24'' monitors 1920 X 1200 and I must 'boost'' the size of the characters,letters...)

    Oh,I think I don't wait after X'Mas to order...

    Thank's

Not sure how you're going to interface the 24'' monitors 1920 X 1200 to any gps.

I have not come across any gps with an AV-out port.

If you're talking about the monitor being part of a laptop, then you might consider using the PC version of Garmin, iGO8 or TomTom, etc. Just load the software into the laptop. All you need then is a gps receiver similar to the Garmin GPS 10x and bluetooth connection to the laptop.

You can download Garmin for PC from here:

    http://www8.garmin.com/support/colle...t=010-00685-00

Also add this to registry before starting install:

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Garmin\Que]
    "QuePath"="C:\GarminMobilePC\Que.exe"
