Today,I received my new Chinese GPS ordered one month ago.It is a 7'' screen 128 MB with Win embedded CE 6.0,Nav N iGo 8,22.214.171.124621,Mar 10 2009 with maps : Basemap 2007.07,Canada 2008.10 and the States 2008.
I downloaded the iGO Primo 2.0 International Edition from the post of zervdim (thank's) and the maps (updated 2012)contained in the two Rapid Share links. I downloaded too the French - TTS Pro Language file and the GET TTS PRO FRANCE Loguendo Voice/ParisParis (I don't know the difference between these language files).
I hope use this GPS in Canada,Usa , France and Italy.
My question is :
With this GPS,did I have just to follow the instructions contained in the text file, put it on a mini Sd card, insert it in the GPS and it will be OK?
I have no others 'precautions' and it will be correct (I'll use a new Sd card, keeping the original as back-up)...
I copied the file downloaded in the post of zervdim and copy-paste the Primo 2 file in a new Sd card.I tried this night to open the new iGo Primo 2 but unseccusfully. All the unit ask when I put the finger on 'Navigate' or ''GPS'' on the screen was a message asking ''Please set GPS path first''.I was very 'insecure' so each time after I tried with iGo Primo 2,I came back with my old iGo 8 sd and resart fine.
I read the 23 pages of the post here to finally try to open the unit outside (it is minus 12 C outdoor).Happily a new screen appears and I can saw the progression of satellite 'acquiring' or 'search'...
I came back inside my home and take photos of the 'Syst information' screen.
Firmware : V.918C.210000.110729.128M
Application program: Z1.6ABF-UI20-HD-TH
ID System Control:
I tap on a Windows icon and the screen go on windows system with Internet Explorer icon,Jet PDF,Word Viewer Bin,ect.
I can't close Windows Embedded CE 6.0...
If I try on the lower left side with the 'Start button,I have just the ''Suspend'' I'm now on this function (suspend) wating to find how go out of Win CE 6
(I tried find a complete 'user manual' on the net for this but failed)
when you go to windows ce from the gps menu, you have to use the exit icon from the desktop in wince. the gps will be powered off using this icon. if you use suspend from the start menu, gps will be in sleep mode, so pressing power button on gps will come back to wince.
related to your primo not loading, in your gps menu, use the navigation path icon and browse yours sdmmc folder and it will change to the primo.exe starting file, now press navigate or gps from the gps menu and voila.
if you cannot change the navigation path from the gps menu, just rename the primo folder on the sdcard and the startup .exe file the same as your past working igo.
I'll keep your advice about Win CE shutdown preciously
As mentioned,I go outside an start the gps with 'reloaded' Primo 2 and stay it powered for minimally 5 minutes. All is okay now.About the navigation path,I'm fautive, because I MUST not forget the GPS is less 'reactive' than a tablet and I did'nt realise I can slide down the menu...
Now I will make a new post to know whait kind of maps I must load in Primo 2 because I downloaded Worl maps and there have a lot of files (.3DL, .DEM,.FBL,.PH,.POI).
Thank's and (h)ave a nice day, (H edited wrong way to write)

related to the map, igo r3 (8.3.x) and up + any new map from the 2 provider will work.
try port=0 and baud = 57600 for your unit, fast gps lock. you can check the actual used one in system.ini now in your sdcard saved profile.

your gps menu is stored in a hidden partition in the Nand flash , you can backup it from wince explorer by going to residentflash and add 2\ at the end from the link path and hit enter. you menu is there in a folder called APP.
