    running (any or Igo) for MyGuide 4228 WE

    Hello all!
    Need an advice on how to step by step as appears I'm absolute n00b in this area
    basically, I've got this SatNav, downloaded few files and not getting nowhere, as I can not find a file (or access is impossible) in order for the other one to start.
    Specs:
    MY GUIDE 4228 4.3" TFT Touch Screen SAT NAV with UK and Western Europe Mapping
    372 MHz Processor
    Windows CE Operating System
    Turbo Software and TeleAtlas West Europe maps
    RAM 64Mb / Flash 512 Mb
    SD card slot with 2Gb SD Card with pre-installed maps
    4.3" anti-glare touchscreen display
    Battery / Lifetime Li-Ion 1050 mAH / 3 hours
    bought at:
    MY GUIDE 4228 4.3" TFT Touch Screen SAT NAV with UK and Western Europe Mapping
    had it once replaced already- just the same- dog-full like alien comprehensible only menus etc, freezes again etc... quite few places in UK are missing, some towns in Germany missing all together.

    Thats the main folder:

    So I've copied files from flash card, for safe keeping, but other folders (resident flash etc) are copy protected and windows mobile center doesn't start
    as for back up- thus is it!

    Appears, that only reasonable App is iGo. I wander which exactly will work?
    and yes, it is unbearable!

    whilst I went on couple big trips tto mainland Europe it kept freezing on motorways, sometimes refused co calculate and did a "trick" for me

    managed to boot itself other-way round... semi-boot apart from usual freezing up etc

    The bit I followed badly-
    Code:
    Create a file named ADDONS with the notepad in the root of your SD card that contains these lines:

    [modules]
    GPS = "icons/files.bmp", "", 0

    [GPS]
    MyGuide = "", "\\Flash Disk\\myguide\\myguide.exe"
    iGO8 = "", "\\Storage Card\\iGO8\\igo8.exe"

    Then copy your iGO folder on the same SD card anr you are good to go
    tried also:
    Code:
    or, for more navi software, you can use this:

    [modules]
    Navigation = "icons/files.bmp", "", 0
    Multimedia = "", "\\storage card\\tcpmp\\player.exe""

    [Navigation]
    Amigo = "", "\\Storage Card\\igo_amigo\\amigo.exe"
    MioMap = "", "\\Storage Card\\MioMap\\MioMap.exe"
    Garmin ="","\\Storage Card\\Garmin\\RunGMXT\\Garmin.exe"
    Mireo = "", "\\Storage Card\\BlackEdition\\BlackEdition.exe"
    iGO8.3.4 = "", "\\Storage Card\\igo8\\igo8.exe"

    [interface]
    ;resolution_dir="320_240" [modules]
    new one, I tried
    Code:
    Igo Primo 480x272 with uk map for WinCE 5 ppc/pna
    said
    Code:
    Just stick the Primo folder onto your devices memory card
    Then boot your device fron the Igo.exe thats it

    Includes latest q3 map for united Kingdom and premium poi's
    does need the 3d buildings file though i have been unable to locate the file..

    Dont forget to say thanks :)
    as in:
    Code:
    http://hotfile.com/dl/100443987/bc539f4/Home_Video_iprim.rar.html
    result in a new card (not sure as where it all end as some say- all iGo's are SD card locked)

    here's what happens (nothing):

    OK file SHELL (configuration one)

    contains command
    \SDMMC\MobileNavigator\MobileNavigator.exe
    what exactly I should replace that with?
    nex issue- once changed- what happens to Map Data file?- SD is only 1.84Gb and new files of iGo Primo UK + POI's 225MB
    Should I )once modified SHELL replace existing files with contents of Primo folder?
    Thanks!

    Re: running (any or Igo) for MyGuide 4228 WE

    Just to say, that copied SHELL and required files to new SD

    still the same- nothing
    even after SHELL file contained all commands
    GPS = "icons/files.bmp", "", 0

    [GPS]
    \SDMMC\iGo.exe
    MyGuide = "", "\\Flash Disk\\myguide\\myguide.exe"
    iGO8 = "", "\\Storage Card\\iGO8\\igo8.exe"
    Seriously guys, I know it is lame and I am missing certain simple mater here
    any advice?

    Hi Atasas, Both Igo8 and Igo Primo will run on the 4228. All you need to do is the following:

    1. Get a blank SD card and copy your Igo files to the card. Put any maps in the map folder.
    2. Edit Shell.ini to point at Igo.exe e.g. If the Igo.exe file is in the root folder, your shell.ini would be \SDMMC\igo.exe
    If you installed Igo in a folder called IGO, your shell.ini file would be \SDMMC\IGO\Igo.exe

    Shell.ini should only have this one line in it.

    Other details such as port and baud speed are contained in the sys.txt file - e.g.

    [gps]
    port=7
    baud=57600

    Clicking the "navigation" button on the Myguide start-up screen runs shell.ini, so as long as you have the correct path set up, Igo should run.

    Hope this helps

    Thanks you very much for the reply.
    I've run iGo Primo and got shocked of no post code search, so I didn't bother with iGo 8... might be alternative for later consideration?
    now I run old'ish TomTom- simplicity is beauty on its own- love it!
    Thanks for your advice- appreciated!

    Glad you managed to get Primo running. However, Post Code search should work, although it is limited to 5 digits unless you have correct license file. On my version, key board narrows down available choices as you type in the post code. Suggest you try and find latest Primo files. PS Igo8 also has post code search.
