    $15 for your help! please help me

    Hello Forum Members

    I am desperately trying to set up my GPS before I give it to my dad for his birthday.I will even send you $15 through PayPal if you can help me fix my GPS.

    here is the problem

    Basically I have ordered a GPS Unit from a Chinese Website. see below:
    http://www.dealextreme.com/p/5-0-lcd...-maps-sd-33738

    The Spec's are as follows:
    - 480 x 272 pixels wide screen resolution and aspect
    - Powered by Microsoft Windows CE .NET 6.0 Core (English) operating system
    - CPU: SIRF Atlas-III Dual-Core 400MHz (super fast GPS response)
    - Features a 1100mAh rechargeable lithium polymer battery
    - SiRF-III GPS, tracks up to 12 satellites at the same time
    - Internal memory: 64MB

    software:
    -GPS Sys Info = RomVersion: 82AV6.0409M21405A.3.26
    -GPS Software Version: V3.6.E019.11.19
    -GPS OEM Info: YFAtlas4
    -GPS Platform ID:5955414E46454E47

    The GPS came with a crappy Software called Route66. I was advised to delete that software and replace it with IGO.

    So I deleted that software as soon as I got my GPS - and then I Downloaded IGO FEB 2011 Version.

    I installed it Succesfully but when I go to the Map, it says "Looking For GPS Signal" at the top right corner.. and it just stays like that for hours.

    So I Uninstall that and Download an old version of IGO that has auto detect features to find the "baud/port" After this, I wrote the numbers down, and installed the new 2011 IGO Again. and this time, I changed 2 text files. the "sys.txt" and the "system.ini" so that the settings says this:

    [gps]
    baud="38400"
    port="1"

    (because this was the result of the old IGO8 Auto Detect Feature)

    So Now it is still the same... in the top corner it is loading and just says "Looking for GPS Signal..."

    Here is what the sys.txt says:
    "[device]
    type="pearl_gtx60"

    [gps]
    baud="38400"
    port="1"

    [sound]
    csv_voice_enabled=1

    [debug]
    experimental_features="1"

    [network]
    available="1"

    AND here is what system.ini says"

    [config]
    last_saved_system_time="2011.04.03.|02:47:23.000"

    [gps]
    baud="38400"

    remove the inverted commas in your sys.txt file so that you have the following
    [gps]
    port=1
    baud=38400

    then restart your gps

    sorry no luck. removed commas, in sys.text so it shows:
    [gps]
    port=1
    baud=38400

    left it for about 15 minutes still says "looking for GPS signal..." on the top...

    thanks for replying to this thread though

    OK So I have changed my sys.txt info from this
    [gps]
    baud="38400"
    port="1"
    to this
    [GPS]
    Found=com1:,38400,8N1,none
    will let you know how I get on, in a few hours. Thanks

    PS I used an old IGO8 to auto detect my Baud & Port Settings. Are they 100% correct? because I have noticed most other GPS Units have a baud rate of 4800... and on iGo8 it showed my baud rate as "38400" Could that be wrong?

    PPS Im from the UK.

    Have you tried other combinations of gps

    2, 9600
    2,4800
    1,9600

    etc etc

    When you open 'menu' in igo
    menu, setting, -> gps there is auto detect.

    btw No need to offer money

    Also, delete the first entry in your sys.txt file..........

    "[device]
    type="pearl_gtx60"
