Hi,

I have an NQ501 GPS (Windows CE5) running iGo v8.3.2.68298.
Maps are quite old (dated 2008). This is the first time I try to update - should I first unlock the device or anything like that?
is it enough to decompress the files to the SD card?
is there any risk of a brick due to modifying the SD card contents?

there's no risk of brick, and all you need to do is to put the maps inside the igo/content/map folder, and if i remember correctly, there's no need to modify anything else
