Im a lurker.. dont post in forums much. Just dig for info. But i need some help now =( finally got through translating and following the only tutorial I could find for making our own raster maps for Primo only to discover there is a license for raster maps... I have the raster map for my town ready to go I just need the license... anybody know where I can get it? I have had no luck.. thanks in advance!
Well I had almost given up finding it.. but then found out what the filename was on some Russian gps website.. found it soon after. Just google the filename below and win! I use my Android phone for Primo mod testing and then once i know it works move it to my Pioneer Avic unit... I know it works on my android ill let ya know soon if it works in my Pioneer unit!
Nice find! you did much better than I did. Im finding that the RasterNNG app is kind of limited. it does fine with 16x files but I tried twice to do 18x files and it wasnt having it for some reason. It fine for my pioneer nav I doubt it would handle anything more than 16x. But im planning on gutting a broken Eclipse navigation and shoving the most powerful internals I can into it that will run android easily and I want to use that power and RAM to be able to handle much higher resolution raster images. Basically an indash super nav/computer. a 249mb raster brought my droid bionic to its knees when I loaded iGO haha.
Does anyone know of an alternative to RasterNNG? maybe something professional?
EDIT: So i was able to get NNG Raster 3.1.5 to do 18x images.. It did 18x in both NNG (low settings) and HQ mode just fine.. though when I tried SHQ mode I got a fatal error im assuming is memory related due to the much larger file. HQ turned out a 124mb file for my entire area not sure of sq mileage but its quite a bit. Both my Droid Bionic and my Pioneer F700bt handle it just fine after about 20-30 seconds (quite a large file to load into ram). Unless you just have an older system that cant handle it go for the 18x FOR SURE.. I can actually make out individual houses on my street whereas in 16x zoomed that far in is just a mash of colors. Also the "bicubic" filter in NNG Raster is by far superior to the other two settings. A quick wikipedia search will show why. Tonite before I goto bed im going to set SAS.Planet to download all the 20x textures and see what happens.. if NNG Raster happens to spit them out ok im doubting my devices will handle them very well but we shall see. Also if you are trying to use NNG Raster in the western hemisphere you cannot change E to W in your coordinates just throw a - in front and voila (-77.750). Updates tomorrow!
