igo 8.3 working, igo 8.4 amigo and igo primo lose GPS signal (win CE)

    Hi,

I got a new GPS which comes with igo 8.3 which I really don't like.
Igo 8.3 seems to work well, but I hate the UI of this program, it's not user friendly.
I tried to put igo amigo or primo and both takes a while to pick up satellites and then keeps on losing the GPS signal.

I used the 2 tools for getting the baud and port, and I get baud 4800 and port 1. This also what I see in igo 8.3.
Still when I use this values in sys.txt for amigo and primo, no change (I deleted the save folder of course).

Any ideas on what to do? The GPS is from ebay.

    Thanks in advance!
    Asaf

And of course you made the necessary entries in the sys.txt of Amigo and Primo?

    Yes.
For Amigo (let's focus on this one since I guess it should be simpler) I had no sys.txt.
I created one with the [gps] values and also tried the one I have for the igo 8.3 (that came with the device) and added the [gps] values.
    Didn't help...

Understood. Just know that Amigo was the predecessor of Primo and certain upgrades were made to Amigo. Have you tried the entries with Primo? It also may be necessary to delete the save folder each time you make a sys.txt change. Also, know that you have to completely shutdown your device each time and then restart it.

    Thanks.
I always delete the save folder and restart the device. I may try the primo again, although it didn't look better.

What is the name of your device? It's just possible that another port and baud numbers would be better. For instance, mine are 1, 37600. Just guessing here.

It doesn't have a name... it was purchased from ebay from fans_jade seller.

I imagine it's a 2-Din unit. I hope that you made a back up of the iGO8 program before you did any editing. Do a Goggle search and see if anyone used different port and baud numbers and see how they worked out. Good luck.

    Thanks, 2, 9600 didn't work.
Seems like the best results are with 1, 4800.
I guess I shouldn't have bought an unknown chinese device.
Sometimes I get a signal, sometimes I don't. It's just not something I can rely on.
I will keep trying with iGo 8.3 which seems to work best (but still not something I can rely on).
This evening I will also try and see how many satellites are captured from the device setup menu.
    Thanks!
