    Primo 2 POI with your ICON's

    I have over the last few days tried many different methods (as suggested in different threads on this site) of getting Igo Primo 2
    to attach an icon to the kml file.

    I think the default ones have something to be desired.
    The Bitmap must be 32x32 or smaller,anything bigger looks silly on the map.
    The kml file can be edited with notepad .
    Most kml files have the filename in the first few lines i.e.

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" standalone="yes"?>
    <kml xmlns="http://earth.google.com/kml/2.0">
    <Document><name>GB-ESSO_services_all</name>
    <Placemark>
    <name>Roaches Garage Ltd, Longstone Hill, St. Ives &gt;1736795188</name>

    The addition of

    <metadata><igoicon><filename>Esso.bmp</filename></igoicon></metadata>

    i.e.

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" standalone="yes"?>
    <kml xmlns="http://earth.google.com/kml/2.0">
    <Document><name>GB-ESSO_services_all</name>
    <metadata><igoicon><filename>Esso.bmp</filename></igoicon></metadata>
    <Placemark>
    <name>Roaches Garage Ltd, Longstone Hill, St. Ives &gt;1736795188</name>

    Tells Primo to go look for Esso.bmp in the Contents\Userdata\Usericon folder,as you know kml files are stored in Contents\Userdata\Poi folder.

    Note....This method works for Primo 2 Igo8 seems a bit hit and miss and will not play games with this method.....

    Guess which i am using.

    (I have tried to upload my Userdata folder (zipped of course) but my mobile connection will not do it without errors)

    Let me know if you find this usefull and thanks to all who gave the hints.

    It works on a wince 4.2 device as well. In addition to what's said above. You need to put the metadata line before the first placemark. Otherwise it doesn't work in a my case.

    Re: Primo 2 POI with your ICON's

    i have a german description for KML-Construct under iGO/Primo
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" standalone="yes"?>
    <kml xmlns="http://earth.google.com/kml/2.0">
    <!-- this is a Remark-Rule, good for POI-Adresse, then fast Search and Edit with Editor -->
    <!-- die ersten beiden Zeilen teilen google und iGO/Primo mit:das ist eine KML -->
    <!-- es folgt die Hauptkategorie - der Name ist unabhängig vom eigentlichen KML-Dateinamen --->
    <Document><name>z.B: meine POI-Sammlung</name>
    <!-- es muß nun ein Icon-Bitmap für die Haupt-Kategorie angegeben weden -->
    <!-- für iGO muß der absolute Pfad zum Icon-Ordner eingetragen werden -->
    <!-- bei Primo wird nur der Bitmap-Name geschrieben -->
    <metadata><igoicon><filename>meine_POI_Sammlung.bm p</filename></igoicon></metadata>
    <!-- die POI unterteilen wir in Gruppen -->
    <!-- jetzt Name für Untergategorie -->
    <Folder><name>meine wichtigsten POI</name>
    <!-- Icon-Bitmap angeben für die Unter-Kategorie -->
    <!-- für iGO muß der absolute Pfad zum Icon-Ordner anegeben werden -->
    <!-- bei Primo wird nur der Bitmap-Name angegeben -->
    <metadata><igoicon><filename>meine_wichtigsten_POI .bmp</filename></igoicon></metadata>
    <!-- jetzt kommt die Struktur für einen POI, auch PLACEMARK genannt -->
    <Placemark>
    <name>hier wird die Kurzbeschreibung eingetragen</name>
    <description>es folgt nun die POI-Umschreibung | und immer schön Sonderzeichen vermeiden. z.B. "& ;" hat im Feld Name / Beschreibung nix verloren</description>
    <phoneNumber>+49</phoneNumber>
    <Point><coordinates>16.40548,48.15205</coordinates></Point>
    </Placemark>
    <!-- nächster POI/Placemark -->
    <Placemark>
    <name>und noch ein Platz</name>
    <description>der liegt z.B am Wasser | ist schön grün | mehr erfährt man unter http://www.meine-stadt.de</description>
    <!-- bei iGO kann man Telefonnummer in vorgegebenes Feld eintragen -->
    <phoneNumber>+491234567890</phoneNumber>
    <Point><coordinates>16.40548,48.15205</coordinates> </Point>
    </Placemark>
    <!-- Unterkategorie/Gruppe abschließen --->
    </Folder>
    <!-- Hauptkategorie(POI_Sammlung abschließen -->
    </Document>
    <!-- KML abschließen -->
    </kml>
    <!-- die *.KML-Datei wird !_immer_! als Typ UTF-8 abgespeichert! -->
    <!-- die *bmp (Icon) kommen in Ordner Userdata|Usericon -->
    <!-- die *.kml kommt in Userdata|POI -->
    ---------------------------------------------------
    Bei Andriod-Primo kann eine Tel.-Nummer aus der POI-Info heraus - soweit eingetragen - direkt angerufen werden
