I searched the forums a bit and tried again using a 2Gb SD card instead of the 4Gb one I had been using.
To summarise :-
I have a Kenwood DNX-7200
I formatted a 2Gb SD card in FAT32.
I created a Garmin folder and placed the gmapsupp.img in this (Garmin/gmapsupp.img)
I placed this in the SD card slot in my Kenwood unit
Pressed the NAV button on the Kenwood unit
I now have a working 2012 map

I must to try this !

Is it possible update DNX5280bt with 2013.30? I am trying do that with SD card. Sometimes nothing happend and sometimes kenwood make weird files on SD.

Hi there I had DNX-7200 earlier and now I have DNX-7280BT. Here is some my knowledges with it:

1. Older units (DNX-7200) had miniUSB service port on back of the unit, so You can simply replace old maps in navi unit. Newer models like 7280 doesn't have service port, so only chance is update via SD card. You never can't update maps via front USB!

2. Remember, You should have the latest update of firmware from kenwood site. You can use SD card larger than 2GB, but only with latest FW version!

3. Older units doesn't support 3D and ecoRoute HD features (nor 7280BT although some specs said wrong info).

4. Some DNX 72xx units should know JCV Lane Assist, but I never make it work

5. You can use more than one map, but only way is combine them in Mapsource. Remember that regional maps will be superscribe basic maps like CNEU etc.

to thejerry..yes, it's possible warks fine, new you can find 2013.40 map (maybe try to update firmware Kenwood Electronics Europe | Car > MultiMedia > DNX5280BT)

I got question about this model DNX5280BT.... Does it support any additions files like ASR, G2S, DB, 3D....?

Yes and it's working on a SD card, but my wish is to change de map who is inside the internal memory !
