Firstable I apologize for my english level.
I Have an original USB Stick, with Europe maps 2011/2012 and firmware upgrade for UMI, OEM Ref A2048709596.
Process: I´ve made several backups of the Stick, using Win Image, USB Image Tool, simply copy/paste, and finally I´ve used Imgburn to made an iso file and burned it with Iso to USB.
The results were the same in every case, the firmware upgrade worked perfect., but the maps update shows something like "Copy Protection Unable to Update..."
Problem: Firmaware update can´t handle old maps, this means the UMI is useless.
I did´t use the Original Sitck to update the maps, because I think this is a great oportunity to share this maps. Please tell me how can i upload these files (original format, Iso...etc??)
I'm afraid the image of the USB stick is not enough if you were not able to update your UMI/Navigation 20 properly with a copy USB stick. Or then this is about an issue with some UMI products, I cannot remember the details but they had issues with SW update and the resolution was a new control unit.
Perhaps someone here is familiar with USB sticks, it could be a device serial number issue or the drive name or something like that? I guess not all the USB stick identities can be modified (like a HDD serial number), perhaps the maps content is protected to go with this unique USB identity?
If you want to share the image, you should archive it with WINRAR into smaller files like 100 or 200 MB each and use a file hosting service like Rapidshare, then post the links the service provides for your files.
hev you this usb image please, I have bought an umi kit, connected, all work but GPS SIGANL IS ALWAYS 0 , 0 satellite, this kit was new or seems to be new, the antenna too.
I will buy the last update but if navi doesn't work, I don't,
to test it I need a firmware update, a lot of people talk about a little firmware update of 24 MB, for the first UMI as mine,
I would like to try a firmware update, if I have satellites signal, I will buy the original usb stick to have maps,
please if you have an image of your update , even if this is not the last.. I need it
you say that the new firmware don't recognise the new map, but do you have gps signal even if maps are old...?
I know that any usb have a serial number "device id", when I installed gps to smartphones, a little program give me the device id of the card or usb, I'm sure this id is in a file on the map data , when you do the image, you have to mlodify this file to put it the new device id of your usb...
if you have this image, I could do this , perhaps..
you could upload via torrent or other site to data transfer...
