    Mercedes CAN filter ?

    Hi,
    I'd like to know what is the Mercedes CAN filter and what does it do ?
    And please, if someone can translate it in french cause i'm french

    A CAN filter usually means a circuit that reads CAN bus messages and modifies the content before transmitting it further to the target control unit. Typically the speed signal info is set to zero for CAN messages towards Comand or similar head unit, the device then assuming the car is stationary and video being allowed as well as some other features like entering the destination address or writing an SMS message that may be disabled at speed by default.

    I'll leave translation to French for google.

    Almost always it is illegal (depends where the car is driven). It is not good for navigation. It is good for you if it keeps kids silent in the car while they watch the video.

    The CAN filter is designed for blocking synchronization of cluster reading with reading stored in EZS. By using CAN-filter the only the cluster has to be programmed

    That was a useful addition but I think you should have stated that this is another application for CAN-filters, not the only one (there must be still others that have not been mentioned).
    But I thought in the context of this forum, odometer cracks were more off-topic.
