Question Buying a new unit; 72 plus vs. 92 plus vs. 72 premium

    Hi all,

as you can see, I'm thinking of buying a new unit and after some investigating this is the short list. 72 plus, 72 premium or 92 plus. They are at the right price range (170€ for 72 plus and 190 for the other two) and have the right functions...

So the problems start when trying to figure out the difference between 72 plus and 92 plus. They have the same size screen, same function as far as I can tell,... The only difference is that the 92 is a bit smaller (2.2mm thiner) and lighter (12g), but who will notice that! Any comments on 92 plus vs. 72 plus are greatly appreciated.

Next is the 72 premium option. It has bluetooth, that I won't use, speech command that I won't use, but it has panorama, city and landmark view 3D, which all seem nice.

So can you see my dilemma, it's real neck to neck stuff. It seem that 92 plus is out, cos I know I can bear the extra 12g, I am a strong fella , except if any of you can state something I missed. The question left is, is the 3D view worth the extra 20€, that are actually not much, or should I just say that is just over doing it and spend my € for beer at the arrived destinations.

    My thanks in advance.

Re: Buying a new unit; 72 plus vs. 92 plus vs. 72 premium

I ordered 72 Premium, those 3d views seem nice The guy at the shop said that there is a difference in functions between 72 & 92 plus, but like I said, I can't find any. So 72 premium prevails, same money as 92 plus, just some extra functions.

Will write some comments on the device when I get it.

    Cheers.

Re: Buying a new unit; 72 plus vs. 92 plus vs. 72 premium

    Hi all.
The Unit has arrived, as I said, I got the 72 Premium. So far the unit is great, no problems for now. There was an issue, cos there wasn't any way to enter the destinations as coordinates, but an update of Navigon software through Navigon Fresh program fixed that. The unit is fast and easy to use, no problem getting new maps from here to the device also, just copy&paste the lot. The myRoute is awesome, love the different routes it suggest and that it is adapting to you and the current circumstances (trafic/time of day/...). Also the setting for routing are really detailed, and you can save your profiles, there is also an option to change the profile before you choose the route. The only thing I'm missing is a profile dedicated to camper-vans, it exists (NAVIGON Camper and Caravan Navigation | NAVIGON - a Garmin company.), but as you can see it is pricey, more than half of the unit price. Shame that it can't be found on here or others sites.

I definitely recommend the Navigon 72 premium to anybody, a great fast user friendly unit for a nice enough price.
