Does anyone know if it is possible to update the software on this unit?
I am not too sure of the brand.
I bought it from ebay and I have updated the GPS but don't like the standard radio/BT interface.
Correct, as far I know you need to connect via laptop or PC and with software like "filemance" or "activsync" update new firmware (if you have).
I think that with this Wince5 or 6 a firmware-upgrade is not nesessery but you can add or remove apps like you do on a normal pc.
Like: the MP3 player layout change or replace/radio layout etc.

Hi, I just signed up for this forum because I have been searching for an answer online for some time now. I'm not sure why I can't post a new thread, so I'm replying to this existing thread in hope of getting an answer to my question.
I purchased a 2 DIN Chinese DVD GPS radio that came with Sygic maps on an SD card. The Sygic maps are OK, but I thaought I would use a different map SW that has better 3D graphics and more rich features such as lane assist. The specs on the radio says it will support other maps including Garmin Nuvi, however, I have been unable to get the Nuvi maps onto an SD card. It seems you have to have a Garmin portable unit to even download the latest maps to a PC, and once you do, you also need the Garmin unit to copy the files to an SD card.
Even so, the files that end up on the SD card does not include an .exe file, so I don't think the 2 DIN unit will recognize the Nuvi maps anyway.
My question is, is there a way of copying Nuvi, or any other map SW to an SD card to use with the 2 DIN unit instead of the Sygic maps that came with the unit? I would really like to make use of a map with nicer 3D graphics, street signs, and orther nice features such as lane assist.
Any info that can point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 2 din chinese unit, it has "Planet Electronics" branding on it. I don't know what kind of maps I can use with it, all I know is that the maps on it is a year old, what kind of maps can i use?
Also, the SD card cannot be viewed, when plugged in to a system with Windows 7, the system keep asking to format the SD card, whicle on a mac, it shows 2 folders, but with no conent, yet the card shows that 1.8 gig of it is used (of the 2 gig space)
yes the Chinese 2 din that are operating on WinCE can run other software from the SD card. Igo/Igo Primo is the choice that is recommended now (5/12). You can purchase a larger or 2nd SD card and add the software to it. You'll have to go into the setup program of the radio an tell what .exe program to run. There is a Chinese 2din board and good info under the igo section.
