Garmin GPS17-HVS NMEA antenna..use as receive side of Re_radiating system
i just picked up a marine GPS17-HVS twin NMEA output antenna. £5 in a box of stuff from an auction sale..new and unused.
Was wondering if this could be used as the receive side for a re radiating antenna. it is a new unused item...the thought had occurred to just sell it and buy a store bought re radiating unit.
But if this could be used it would be nice.
As i am typing this and thinking more about it...this unit..(the GPS17) ...is it not actually a self contained GS unit...since it is outputting NMEA data.
I wanted a re radiating antenna..since I have one of these on chip GPS units built in to an electric motorcycle/bicycle data logger ...but it might just be easier to see if I can feed the data logger direct with the NMEA output and bypass the built in GPS unit.
I may have already answered my own question, but since I have typed this, i will post it to see if any one has any input.
