Question How to make a backup?

Hello! I'm pretty new to this, So i'll try giving as much info as i can so u guys can help me..

I have a dvd rom that i want to make a backup for one of my other cars to use.
So far i have used dvd Decrypter to get it on to my computer. The navigationsystem is on a corvette c6. Think it's a -06 with a denso and i think the software is from NAVTEQ..?.

Is "dvd rom" something special? or can i just use a "regular" dvd(+? -? R? RW? DL?) and burn the iso-file on it?
The file size after decrypted onto the computer came up to 7,06GB..

If i havent given enough information please ask me for more specific!

    Thank you!

    /s

Re: How to make a backup?

Forget about DVD Decryptor (Obsolete) and download/install its successor Imgburn

In order to make successfull attempt to copy a Dual Layer Navigation DVD you will need a compatible DVD writer and DL DVD's preferrably Verbatim DVD+R DL
Also the DVD writer must either allow Booktype bitsetting manually or do so automatically when using DVD+R (DVD5 and DVD9)
Consult the list of recommended writers in this section
Explanation of Booktype and bitsetting is explained in detail on sites like www.cdfreaks.com and also on the Imgburn website and forum
There you can also find numerous topics on this subject

Having complied with the above does not automatically guarantee success. There may be copy protection mechanisms in place that prevent the use of copied dvd's and the use of copied material may also lead to either temporary or permanent damage to you equipment.
Another warning is in place to consider a very rapid deterioration or wear of the equipments laser unit when using copied material. It is always inferior to an original

Re: How to make a backup?

    Hi Ganzo!
Made an unsuccessful attempt of making a backup. The navigation told me: "Not a navigation disc inserted"
The most successful part was when I made the booktype changes and managed to write with DVD-Rom settings onto the dvd+r DL disc.

Heres some pics of the nav and disc that im trying to copy:

Any ideas of what to try next?

    Thanks for the help!

    Peace / S

It shouldn't be a big deal. Nero backup (Pc) or Toast (MAc) should have no issue.
Just remember that you'll be dealing with DVD+DL (double layer). So not just a 4.3G but a 8.5G one.
