    Deleted HKLM/init by accident.

    Hi there. I had accidentally deleted the HKLM/init key from the registry and now my pnd just freeze at the bootup screen. Is there any way to reinsert the registry key via sdcard during bootup? I did make a backup of the registry before I deleted it.

    I'm using a PND running WinCE 6.

    If you can connect via mass storage by PC
    transfer using window explorer.

    Hi Airion. Unfortunately, when I connect the PND to the PC, it says "Unrecognized USB Device". I used a card reader to copy over the registry to my SD card but how do I import the registry into wince if I am unable to load wince and unable to connect it via activesync or mass storage.

    My PND is a WayWay Q4331i running WinCE6.

    Thanks again.

    Can you connect to PC before you delete the reg file.
    If so then. I think you have install usb driver suitable for your unit.

    I can connect to the PC before the registry was deleted. In the unit, I can choose the USB connection to be either ActiveSync or mass storage.

    But after the registry key is deleted, I can no longer load wince or connect to the PC via USB. The registry keys that I had deleted are as below;

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\init]
    "Launch10"="shell.exe"
    "Launch20"="device.dll"
    "Depend20"=hex:0a,00
    "Launch30"="gwes.dll"
    "Depend30"=hex:14,00
    "Launch60"="servicesStart.exe"
    "Depend60"=hex:14,00
    "Launch50"="Launch.exe"
    "Depend50"=hex:14,00,1e,00
    "Launch96"="hello.exe"
    "Depend96"=hex:14,00
    "Launch100"="Gpsmc.exe"
    "Depend100"=hex:1e,00
    "Launch80"="Overlay_EXE.exe"
    "Depend80"=hex:14,00,1e,00

    The application/driver shown above does not load.

    Thanks.

    If your device freezes and cannot connect via USB.
    Is there any hard reset on your device.

    Maybe you can try this soft reset - hope it works.
    Press and hold power on key
    Do not release until screen boots up.

    Another way is plug in your usb cable to computer.
    Then press power on and hold.

    Hi Airion.

    Thanks for the suggestion. I sent the unit to the dealer I had bought it from but they too can't do anything about it. They had to send it to a service center about 200km away from the city I'm living in. Hopefully the unit can be restored to it's original state.

    That should teach me a lesson to not mess around with the registry.

    Thanks again.
