RT6 S/W 2.21 and 2012/2013 maps

With Mac OS X you can format a USB stick to MS-DOS (FAT), then copy the files to it and drag the stick icon ("untitled") to "Hidden Cleaner" which removes all hidden Mac OS X files and ejects the clean stick. The stick then works fine and trouble-free updating maps & radars at least in a Peugeot 508SW.

Hi there. It is very important to decompress the ISO file with the right tool (check the internet for the right option). For example, TUGzip will open the ISO, and will decompress the ISO, but the file names will be only 8 characters long - so the file and folder structure will not be recognized by RT6 update script.

Check that in the decompressed folder the file and folder names are exactly as listed on the figure.

Thank you veyrongps, I had "CD Illegible" message and also USB stick didn't work, but after you explanation I copied the files directly from the CD I burned into the USB stick and it worked.

Just tried to update to 2.21 and it didnt work, I got an error saying files are incomplete or damaged (updating from 2.20 in DS4 using usb stick). Any Idead?


On the bright side, I then managed to update the maps to 2012-13 version without a problem. (using usb stick)

You don't need of any activation code for the firmware update.
The activaion code is required just for the maps update on the last Citroen cars.

I'm still on SW2.2 (Peugeot 508) but the system does not warn me when updating maps while driving. So a question for the people that mention that the software 2.21 is necessary: in what way did you @SW2.2 see that maps could not be updated?
Or are there any hidden risks?

So based on the absence of responses, nobody has actually seen a warning? Is the update then really necessary or just based on assumptions?
Not to doubt any of the previous posts, but some people seem to have different experiences; some say 2.21 is necessary others say 2.2 works fine.

The reason I ask is that my dealer has warned me to update SW myself. There have been some customers with failing board computers due to SW updates.
Only if updating maps while driving really needs SW2.21 I'm willing to take the "risk".

I have 2.20 and I updated maps while driving.

Hi ,
Peugeot 508 from France, delivered in Jan.2012.
FW RNEG2.1.G.5 from July 2011 (Note: I didn't update it to 2.21 and it worked well)
1. un-rar the content to the root of my USB pendrive (FAT32 formatted)
2. start the engine and remain parked (no driving),
3. go nav > map settings > maps (on the bottom right the Update option is greyed out)
3. plug in the USB pendrive (the Update option becomes available)
4. click on "France..." > click on the Update option
5. wait 22 minutes for the loading of the new map (keeping engine running and without driving!) > UPDATE SUCCESSFUL
6. remove the USB pendrive

During the install procedure, no activation code has been requested. And there was no warning during the update procedure.

The new 2012/2013 1st Ed. map works great.
