I updated to firmware 2.21 on my 508, before updating the maps, and no question about any activation code, what so ever.

I have software version 2.20, I have not updated to 2.21 yet and I have installed all maps except Scandinavia because Of insuficient memory.

You can update the maps with software version 2.20 because 2.21 is not a "must have" for this job.

This is posted in the s.v. 2.21 tread, it is a tutorial to update the maps:

to flash the new maps download all archives, unzip, open the folder UHDP00306, copy the entire content on a USB drive formatted fat32, when you plug in the USB drive containing the update Files the map update will open automatically, then select any of the maps, then choose update, after a while the system will display the countries list from which you choose the map you want to update. If you want to update another country the maps already updated will show the "up to date status".
No other folder, mp3 file, or any kind of data need to be on the USB drive excepting the update Files.

yes i tried to edit but the code activation is not in this file but in each map(file .bin) and it is a combination given by the PDN number (cd issue from navteq) and the VIN number of the car ..so it will be difficult to find a solution ..

Oke, only thing I can think of: newer citroen cars have chassisnumbercombinations wich are not listed to be blocked in the navteq files
like the ones from the peugeot cars wich also are not blocked.

It seems a little bit odd.
Do you think it could be possible to find a way to downgrade the fw (for example to 2.10) and then to try to update the maps?

Anyway about MyWay (not e-MyWay), I remember some people merged files from old maps with files from new maps to bypass some locks.
Could this be useful?

Let me tell... It is very strange that my DS4 (August/September 2012) has been released by factory with the 2.20 firmware and not with the newer.

As you told, probably the relation is just VIN <-> Maps.


After my post, I have done a test:

I have tried on my e-MyWay (DS4 August/September 2012, now RNEG2.21.A.1) to insert a USB drive with the old 2011/2012 map... but it STILL asks me activation key! How is it possible!? Did NAVTEQ know about the future!?
At this point actually I can't understand where is the issue... Map's files? Firmware's files? VIN code? Hardware? Integrated memory?
