    307 Navteq

    Hello,

Does anyone know which GPS sistem is in a Peugeot 307 Navteq and where can I find the map updates. I don't know the system very well as the car does not belong to me, I'm just trying to help a friend who does not know how to update his GPS.

    Thank you

    What year is the 307?
Until april 2005 it is probably RT3. After that RT4 or RT5.
Update maps are by means of CD and update software is also by CD, with special instructions. All is on this forum.
    good luck.
More help can be given with specific questions.

    Thanks for your reply.
The car is from November 2004, I have also confirmed that is a RT3 with CAN VAN bus. The system software is 5.40 and, therefore needs to be updated. I've downloaded the file 550-595-img.zip and burned to a CD-RW, but now I don't now what to do with it. I've inserted in the RT3 CD player but nothing happened.
Do I need to do something specific or is he CD not properly burned?

    Thank you.

Probably a bad cd, the latest official software-version is 5.5D, CD_UPG_V0595.

    Update instructions:
Remove your simcard, start the engine and let it run while its updating,
insert software-cd 5.5D, system restarts several times,
after 8 or 9 minutes cd come's out but dont touch it, after 1 or 2 seconds it is retracted,
now the mainmenu returns and the update is ready.

You can download firmware 5.5D here:

    Wrong

The only system ever fitted in a 307 is RT3

The latest models of the second generation of Peugeot 307 has besides the RT3 also the RT4 as an option,
but only some of them has a RT4, the system was very expansive at that time.
I do't know in what year the second generation with RT4 started, I believe it's 2007 (correct me if i'm wrong).

    Re: 307 Navteq

In 2007 a Limited Edition of the Peugeot 307 has been available for a short period
This model was introduced as D-sign and had the RT4 unit

BTW, the RT4 has been proven to be a total disaster due to the frequent malfunction and complete breakdown of the installed HDD

true, fortunately there are tools to backup the whole disc and in case something went wrong you can replace the hdd with a more prone proof one, of course not from PSA. btw i believe that the last version of RT3 software for VAN bus models was 5.52, but indeed newer maps require only 5.5D (5.50 final build)

The last official version is 5.5D, if you use 5.52 and something went wrong, non of the dealers can help you, so dont use 5.52.

if something went wrong with the 5.5D none of the dealers will/can help you, unless you order a new headunit for $$$$. I hope you are not going to present a similar idea with the v6.63 vs v6.6D when it is proven that last RT3 headunits were shipped with v6.63 from factory.
